The Joomla project announced the end of life for Joomla 2.5 versions of the content management system in accordance with it's release and support cycle. The final version of 2.5.8 was released on the 10th December 2014.

End of life or EOF means as from 31st December 2014 no further bug fixes, features or security updates will be available for anyone running a website using version 2.5 You are strongly advised to update to the latest and stable release of Joomla 3 so you can take advantage of the great new features and functionality included in version 3 plus to ensure you receive bug fixes, new features and security updates.

Please note you will also find many of the extension and template developers will stop supporting and releasing updates for 2.5 so we would recommend you upgrade your website to latest version of 3.x

What support will you offer for the current joomla 2.5 templates at the website

We will continue to provide customers with support for the 2.5 versions of the templates we have available for download at the website until September 2015.

After September 2015 the 2.5 versions of the designs will be removed from the website and will no longer be supported or available for download.

As of January 2015 we will only develop and release templates at the website for the latest version of Joomla 3.

If you have any questions about this please feel free to contact us.

How do I upgrade my website to Joomla 3

If you have a simple website setup then upgrading to the latest version of version 3.x should be pretty straight forward.

According to the project team the upgrade from 2.5 to the latest version of 3.x is classed as a minor one click upgrade which can be completed via the administrator area of your website. You will be required to ensure the template and any extensions, modules or plug-ins are compatible with 3.x before completing the upgrade via the administrator area of your website.

Before you get started we strongly recommend you read the step by step self assessment migration guide which is a great step by step user friendly guide for anyone planning to migrate a website from 2.5 to 3.x

If you have a complexed website setup which makes use of 3rd party extensions, modules or plug-ins and incorporates some customization which you or a developer has made to your website then you will need to do your research and planning before upgrading to the latest release of 3.x
