    Version 5.4.8

    This is the first release of BikeStore from Cybersalt. BikeStore is a VirtueMart template, so it ships against Joomla 5.4.8 with VirtueMart 4.8.0 rather than Joomla 6 — Joomla 6 removes a compatibility layer VirtueMart still depends on, so a Joomla 6 build is not possible until VirtueMart itself moves. Because this is the first release from us, everything below is new to the template. All three of its styles — the default, Static Image and Product Slider front pages — have been brought up together.

    Added

    • The cart is now reachable on a phone. It has been moved into the row of controls beneath the site name and sized to match the buttons beside it. Previously it stayed where the desktop layout put it, underneath the menu button, and the two overlapped.
    • A create-profile button in the phone control row. There was none: the phone chrome looks for the register link by name, and this template's link was labelled differently, so the button was never built.
    • A rebuilt phone header — a menu button and slide-out menu, one row of controls in a set order (menu, account, create profile, search, social, cart), and search and social panels that open below the header. The site name and slogan stack cleanly and the footer text is centred.
    • A compatibility helper, plus the missing styling, so pop-up dialogs written in the old Bootstrap 2 shape open over a dimmed page and close correctly under Bootstrap 5 — including the close cross, which had been painting as a solid coloured block on top of the dialog's title. It applies to every dialog in the template, not just the log-in box.
    • Previous and next arrows on the slideshow, always visible on every screen rather than fading in on hover — hover-only controls cannot be reached on a touch screen at all — and enlarged to a comfortable tap size on phones.
    • BikeStore now ships as a proper installable package. No package manifest had ever existed for this template.

    Changed

    • The template reports version 5.4.8 everywhere it is shown: the installer manifest, the description panel in Template Styles, the file header, and the cached record Joomla's admin actually reads.
    • Built and tested against Joomla 5.4.8 and VirtueMart 4.8.0.
    • The Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility layer and the phone chrome were both brought up to the current build. That carries a large set of shop-facing corrections in its own right — product grids that tile correctly, tabbed product panels that show one at a time, the cart summary, breadcrumbs, and the end of sideways scrolling. The notable ones are listed below.
    • Text-entry fields in the site's own forms — contact, log-in, registration and search — are set on phones at a size that stops the browser zooming in when you tap one, and leaving you on a page wider than the screen. VirtueMart's cart and quantity controls are deliberately unchanged.
    • The header is more compact — the gap that used to sit above the main menu row has been removed at every width — and on phones the footer band has an even inset all round with slightly smaller type.
    • The cart mark matches the rest of the range. It was drawn from an older icon set as a basket standing on two small feet; it is now the same trolley used elsewhere.

    Fixed — the shop

    • The log-in form works on Joomla 5. The VirtueMart log-in template called a routine Joomla 5 removed, so the page could return a fatal error instead of a log-in box. Thanks to Zoltán for reporting this.
    • Tabbed product panels show one tab at a time. Every tab's products had been rendering at once as one long single-column list.
    • Products under a tabbed heading lay out four to a row instead of three, then four, then one.
    • Product rows fill the width evenly — the last tile no longer drops onto a line by itself.
    • Product rows take their proper height, so the section below no longer rides up and overlaps the tiles.
    • Product tiles use the sizes the design intends, filling the grid to its right edge rather than leaving an empty channel down the right.
    • The bullet points that had appeared beside every product tile are gone, and brand and manufacturer strips no longer show a bullet beside each logo.
    • Product carousels no longer force the page to scroll sideways.
    • The cart summary opens centred on the screen at a readable size, instead of hanging off the edge — on a phone its right edge landed exactly at the screen edge; on a wide desktop it was jammed to the right. Breadcrumbs run along one line without bullets beside them.
    • Tapping the cart on a phone opens a full, readable panel. It had been squeezed to the width of the button that opened it — about 28 pixels.
    • The cart's drop-down no longer opens by itself and covers the page.
    • Account and registration fields fill the width of a phone screen. VirtueMart builds those forms as a table, so several fields rendered about a third of the width with empty space beside them.
    • The “Remember Me” box in the log-in panel is a checkbox again rather than a full-width bar.
    • Closed panels, such as the “Ask a question” form, take up no space until you open them — they had been holding their full open height while shut, pushing everything below them down the page.

    Fixed — page layout

    • The page no longer scrolls sideways at any width — phone, tablet or desktop. Menu panels parked off-screen, product carousels and article details were each pushing the page wider than the window.
    • Columns are the right width with the correct gaps between them. Rows had been losing their spacing, so side-by-side modules grew into the gap, three- and four-across rows wrapped their last item onto its own line, and partner logos rendered at half size.
    • Multi-column rows sit side by side instead of collapsing into a stack, and rows used as plain wrappers no longer render wider than the page or turn the header into a stack.
    • Every kind of column stacks to full width on a phone, including footer columns, which had been squeezing into narrow strips with their labels wrapping.
    • Sections whose contents float no longer collapse, so bands stop overlapping one another and banner rows keep their height.
    • Page content sits at its proper width and position rather than inset, shifted right, or stretched past the intended maximum on a large screen.
    • Full-width coloured bands reach both edges of a phone screen evenly, instead of bleeding off one side and leaving a gap down the other.
    • Text blocks meant to sit part-way across a row land in the right place, and modules sized by their own class setting keep that width.
    • Content set to show or hide at particular screen sizes does so correctly on tablets and desktop, not only on phones.
    • Sidebar modules keep their own height instead of stretching to fill the row and pushing everything below them off the page.
    • Breadcrumbs stay inside the page on interior pages at tablet width instead of running off the right edge.
    • Headings inside module content are the right size again, so text banners no longer collapse to a fraction of their height.
    • The page no longer sits slightly down and to the right of its proper position.

    Fixed — the phone layout

    • The page no longer opens with a screenful of blank white. Roughly 375 pixels of empty space sat above the content, and the site name, menu button, control row and slideshow then painted on top of one another. The header was being held out of the normal flow, so the page reserved a header-sized gap and then drew the header somewhere else.
    • Content uses the width of the screen, apart from a small inset so text does not run to the very edge. It had been confined to a narrow column with white channels down both sides, giving away about a sixth of the display to margin.
    • The grey slab behind the logo is gone. It was a shading layer meant to keep the logo readable over the photograph behind it on a desktop; with no photograph behind it on a phone it painted as a flat grey block. The empty gap left by the main menu — which now lives in the slide-out menu — has gone with it.
    • The control buttons are all one colour, evenly spaced, all the same size and shape, and all fit on the screen. Some had been red with white symbols and others white with dark ones; the first and last were clipped at the screen edges.
    • They stay that colour on every page. On anything other than the front page they changed to a different shade entirely, because the colour was being worked out per page and only succeeded on the front page. It is now stated once.
    • The cart symbol is centred inside its button.
    • The menu button sits on the same line as the site name, its three bars are centred in it rather than hanging out of the bottom, and the cross it turns into closes properly.
    • Header wrappers fit the phone screen, so the menu button is always reachable.
    • Two empty bands have been removed — one inside the header, one beneath the breadcrumb bar — both reserved for controls that now live in the control row.
    • The footer, its contact details, logo and social marks all sit correctly.

    Fixed — menus

    • Desktop drop-down menus stay open as you move down into them, instead of closing in the gap between the menu bar and the panel.
    • Sidebar menus can be opened level by level on a desktop, not only from the phone menu.
    • The “+” that opens a sub-menu in the slide-out menu is clearly visible against its button.
    • Both menu panels indent their sub-menus the same way, so they read as one control, and items are all weighted the same instead of the branch you are in turning bold.

    Fixed — the desktop header

    • The four marks at the top right sit on one line, at one size. The cart had been dropping to a line of its own, twenty pixels below the others, because its container was collapsing to no height and letting its contents escape downward. Their sizes and symbol sizes had also varied, on three different midlines.
    • They are evenly spaced. The gaps ran 20, 11 and 0 pixels — the search mark and the cart were touching — because the four marks were three separate groups, each bringing its own spacing.
    • The header is its full height again, so the slideshow beside it fills the page rather than collapsing to a narrow strip, and text labels beside the marks are no longer cut off.
    • The search box sits centred in the header bar rather than hugging its top edge, in a row only as tall as it needs to be.
    • Tab and navigation labels have their spacing back instead of running together.

    Fixed — search, icons and dialogs

    • The search panel is a usable size — full width below the header on a phone with a finger-sized field, and comfortably wide on a desktop — and the search button sits against its field instead of being pushed away from it.
    • The search button on phones shows a magnifier instead of an empty square, and the header search field is the right height so its button is no longer cut off.
    • Joomla's own icons render throughout — first, previous, next and last on paged lists, and the user, lock, envelope, search, tick, cross and warning marks used on log-in, registration and shop pages. They had been blank.
    • The show-password control renders as an eye rather than a bare dot.
    • Social icons are sized and centred in their circles, with nothing left over from the old icon set showing through behind them, and their screen-reader labels kept out of sight.
    • Hidden labels meant only for screen readers no longer print as stray text beside the social icons and the search box.
    • The dead arrow beside the Log in button is gone. It did nothing except submit the form with an empty password, and the three links it was meant to reveal — forgotten password, forgotten username and register — are now shown plainly. The social panel on phones shows its icons.
    • Symbols drawn inside buttons are held to icon size rather than expanding into a large black shape across the log-in area.
    • Icon fonts no longer 404 on every page. The stylesheet referenced an icon font from a folder Joomla 4 removed.

    Fixed — the slideshow

    • The slide image is contained by its frame. It was wider than the area meant to hold it and overhung both sides, and a strip of background showed along the bottom where it did not quite reach.
    • Two errors are gone from the browser console on every page load. The template asked for a stylesheet that is not in it; the server answered with an error page, which the browser then refused. The structural rules that file used to provide have been restored directly — the slideshow's appearance already comes from the template's own styling, so nothing else was needed.
    • The loading ring that turned continuously in the corner of the hero has been removed — it reported progress towards the next slide and read as though something were stuck.
    • Slideshow position markers are round dots on phones rather than numbered squares.

    Fixed — articles and content

    • Featured articles set to a single-column layout are no longer clipped to their headline, on any Featured Articles page.
    • Article details wrap onto as many lines as they need — written by, category, published, updated and hits had been refusing to wrap and running off the side of the page.
    • Headings keep a small inset from the edge on phones, and contact and account forms stack with finger-sized fields.
    • A set of chrome tidy-ups: no duplicated account icons in the phone header, footer menu links visible again on phones, a round back-to-top button with its arrow centred, and product tab labels that fit on one line.

    Known limitations

    • The buttons in the slideshow captions (“Add to cart”, “Order today!”) do not go anywhere. They are placeholder links in the slideshow module's own content rather than template code, and can be pointed wherever you like by editing that module.

    BikeStore remains on Joomla 5 for as long as VirtueMart requires the compatibility plugin. That plugin is enabled in this build by design; disabling it will break the store.

    Version 6.1.3.1

    Maintenance release — recommended for everyone running 6.1.3. The 6.1.3 package shipped with an out-of-date copy of the Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet, and with that stylesheet loading in the wrong position in the page. Between them, those two problems meant a number of the layout corrections this template is supposed to carry were never reaching your site. Both are fixed here, and twenty-nine further corrections have been added.

    Fixed

    • The log-in dialog could not be opened. Clicking the log-in link dimmed the page but showed no dialog at all. An animation left over from the template's Joomla 3-era code was firing on the same click as the current Bootstrap 5 dialog and collapsed the panel to nothing while the page shading still painted. The old animation has been removed and the dialog opens normally again.
    • The compatibility stylesheet was being overridden by the template's own styling. It was being added to the page before the template's stylesheets instead of after them, so any correction in it that did not explicitly force priority silently lost. It is now emitted last, which is where it has always been meant to go. This is the single most significant change in this release: corrections listed in earlier changelogs were present in the package but were not all taking effect on the page.
    • The close button on the log-in dialog appeared as a solid coloured block sitting on top of the "Login Form" heading rather than as an ×. The dialog's dismiss control had been converted to the Bootstrap 5 style, where the × is supplied by the stylesheet rather than by the button itself — and this template does not load Bootstrap's own stylesheet, so nothing drew it. The glyph is now supplied directly.
    • Article details ran off the side of the page on a phone. Written by, Parent Category, Category, Published, Created, Last Updated and Hits were laid out on a single line that was not allowed to wrap, so the later items simply continued past the edge of the screen — measured at 375px, they ended 113px outside the content column and 73px outside the visible page. They now wrap onto as many lines as they need.
    • Joomla 6's "Sign in with a passkey" button drew a very large black shape across the log-in page. Joomla 6 draws that button's icon as an inline graphic with no size of its own, and no template in our range was written to expect one, so it expanded to fill whatever space it could find. Inline icons of that kind are now capped to a sensible size and take the button's own colour.
    • The page could be scrolled sideways at tablet widths even though nothing visible was overflowing. The menu's drop-down panels are parked off-screen vertically, which hides them but does nothing horizontally, so they continued to stretch the page's scrollable width.
    • Icons in the phone header could be invisible. The small round buttons for account, search and social links took their symbol colour from the surrounding header, which on a white button meant white on white. Their colour is now derived from the button's own background, so they are always legible.
    • The phone header could show an empty coloured band with nothing in it. The template reserved a fixed-height strip for the old phone layout, which the current mobile header no longer fills. The strip now sizes itself to whatever is actually in it.
    • Breadcrumb links could run off the right-hand edge on interior and account pages at tablet widths, because the row containing them was resolving to zero width.
    • The slide-out "Follow Us" tab was unusable on touch screens and left a dead bar across the foot of the page. It only ever responded to a mouse hover, and the phone header already offers the same links. It is now hidden on phones.
    • Social icons copied into the phone's social panel could land outside it and appear as an empty panel, and could pick up stray bullet graphics from the template's general list styling.
    • Search fields and other older form fields could collapse to less than their proper height, in some cases cutting off the submit button beside them.
    • Header controls across the top of the page were each sized independently and did not line up with one another. They now share one size and one midline, on both desktop and phone.
    • Assorted further corrections to drop-down and mobile menus, tooltips and popovers, spacing in the phone utility row, and full-height column panels.

    Changed

    • The mobile header and menu are now built by our shared script rather than a per-template copy. The behaviour is the same, but every template in the range now gets the same fixes at the same time.

    Removed

    • Two stray developer archive files were being installed onto your site — a copy of the Bootstrap source in the template's stylesheet folder and a copy of a Joomla layout override in the overrides folder. Neither was ever used at runtime. They have been removed from the package. If you installed 6.1.3 you can safely delete templates/encore/css/bootstrap.zip and templates/encore/html/com_content/category/blog_item.zip; updating to 6.1.3.1 does not remove files left behind by the previous install.

    Requires Joomla 6.1 or newer and PHP 8.3+.

    Version 6.1.3

    Encore 6.1.3 is a maintenance release. It renumbers the template to match the Joomla version it is built and tested against, refreshes the Quick Start onto the current Joomla release, and brings the Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet up to the current shared build. There are no changes you need to make after updating — your settings, colours and menu choices carry over.

    Version numbering

    • The template version now matches the Joomla version it ships against. Encore 6.1.3 is the build for Joomla 6.1.3. The previous release of this template was numbered 6.1.2.2. This is a numbering change only — Joomla still treats 6.1.3 as newer than 6.1.2.2, so the update comparison in your Extensions Manager behaves normally, and nothing about how you install or update the template changes. We are applying the same convention across the whole template range so that the number on the download tells you at a glance which Joomla release it was tested against.

    Quick Start

    • The Quick Start package now installs Joomla 6.1.3. The previous Quick Start bundled Joomla 6.1.2. If you are building a new site from the Quick Start you now get the current Joomla release straight away, instead of installing and then immediately having to run a core update.
    • The Quick Start is a standard Joomla installation package — upload it, extract it, and run the normal Joomla installer in your browser. Akeeba Kickstart is not needed.

    Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet

    • Brought up to the current shared build, adding twenty-five further layout guards since 6.1.2.2. These were found and fixed on other templates in our range during August, and are included here as a preventative update so that Encore is protected against the same classes of problem rather than waiting for one of them to surface on your site. The areas covered are: drop-down menu behaviour and flow; mobile header layout, ordering and spacing; slideshow controls on touch screens, which are revealed on hover and so were unreachable by tap; social icon rendering where a template's own image sprite competed with the Font Awesome 6 glyphs that replaced it; tooltips and popovers becoming visible on the page before they were triggered; page bands that pin themselves to a fixed desktop width and so scroll sideways on a phone; grid children that lost their block display; and full-height column panels that clipped the content they were meant to wrap.

    What is not in this release

    • No template file other than the Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet changed between 6.1.2.2 and 6.1.3. Everything shipped in the 6.1.2.x line — the Joomla 6 native rebuild, the removal of the JavaScript errors that fired on every page load, the jQuery compatibility layer that keeps the slideshow and parallax bands working, the log-in dialog that now opens fully visible, the mobile overflow and drawer fixes, and the drop-down menu positioning corrections — is carried forward unchanged in this package.
    • Known limitation, unchanged and disclosed: the template still loads jQuery and a number of carried-forward jQuery plug-ins. These are dependencies the template genuinely uses, not dead code, and removing them is a larger piece of work than a maintenance release should carry.

    Version 6.1.2

    Encore is now a Joomla 6 native template. This is a full rebuild of the template against Joomla 6 — it no longer depends on the backwards-compatibility plugin, and every part of it has been brought up to current Joomla and Bootstrap standards.

    • Joomla 6 native. Built and tested against Joomla 6.1.2. All Joomla 3-era API calls removed.
    • Bootstrap 5. The template's Bootstrap 2 markup and styling are bridged to Bootstrap 5, including the log-in dialog, which now opens correctly.
    • Rebuilt mobile experience. A proper mobile header with a main menu drawer, a section-menu panel, and single-tap access to search, social links, log-in and registration — all with 44px touch targets. The old phone menu, which depended on a library Joomla no longer ships, is gone.
    • Social links brought up to date. Google Plus, StumbleUpon, Digg, MySpace and Blogger have been retired; Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, TikTok and Discord added; Twitter is now X. Icons are Font Awesome 6.
    • Faster fonts. Google Fonts now load through a direct stylesheet link instead of a script that had to run first.
    • Favicon suite. Upload a favicon straight from the template settings, with Apple touch icon support.
    • Colour pickers throughout the template settings instead of plain text fields.
    • Accessibility and correctness: screen-reader labels on social links, rel="noopener" on external links, and all template output escaped.
    • Error pages are now responsive on phones.

    Requires Joomla 6.1 or newer and PHP 8.3+.

    Version 6.1.3

    allBusiness 6.1.3 is a major rebuild — the first release of this template under Cybersalt, and the first that is Joomla 6 native. The design is deliberately unchanged: your layout, colours, fonts and menu choices all carry over. What changed is everything underneath, so that allBusiness runs cleanly on current Joomla instead of depending on code Joomla has been retiring since version 4.

    If you are already running allBusiness, install the template package over the top — your template settings are preserved and no re-configuration is needed.

    Joomla 6 native

    • allBusiness now installs and runs on Joomla 6.1 without Joomla's backward-compatibility plugin. That plugin exists to keep very old extension code working, and Joomla 6 requires it switched off before it will allow the upgrade at all. Templates that still need it leave you stuck: turning it off breaks the site, leaving it on blocks the upgrade. allBusiness now uses current Joomla APIs throughout and is tested with that plugin disabled.
    • The template version matches the Joomla version it is built and tested against — this release is 6.1.3, built for Joomla 6.1.3.

    Modern framework

    • Rebuilt on Bootstrap 5. allBusiness previously shipped Bootstrap 2, which Joomla dropped years ago. The grid, buttons, forms and drop-downs now use the framework Joomla itself loads — removing a large duplicate stylesheet from every page and stopping the two versions fighting over your layout.
    • Compatibility layer added for jQuery 3.7. Joomla 6 ships jQuery 3.7, which removed several functions templates of allBusiness's generation relied on. Without the new compatibility script the slideshow controls and parallax bands stop responding on Joomla 6 — the page looks right but nothing moves.
    • Legacy code removed — old jQuery plugin loaders, Internet-Explorer compatibility code and unused stylesheets.
    • Login and other pop-ups rebuilt on Joomla's current modal, and the log-in dialog is visible again — on the mixed stack it could open completely transparent, dimming the page around a box you could not see.
    • The pop-up's close button shows an X again. It had been painting as a solid coloured block across the dialog's own title, or not appearing at all.
    • Tooltips and popovers no longer render as invisible empty boxes.
    • Page content sits where it should. Bootstrap 5 adds an inner gutter the original design did not expect, and because this template nests one container inside another it was inherited twice — shifting every page slightly to the right.

    Security hardening

    • Settings are now escaped before they are written into your page. Colours, sizes, image paths and text taken from the template's Options screen pass through dedicated escaping helpers — 274 places in the template's main file — instead of being printed raw as the original code did. These are administrator-only settings, so this is hardening rather than the closing of an exposed hole: it removes the class of problem where an unexpected character in a setting could break the page or put unintended markup into it.
    • The template's main file can no longer be loaded directly. It was missing the standard Joomla guard that stops a template file being requested on its own, outside Joomla.

    The template Options screen

    • All 86 colour settings are real colour pickers with a live preview, instead of plain text boxes needing a hand-typed hex code.
    • Every on/off setting is a native Joomla switch — 68 of them — replacing the old image-based toggles, so the Options screen matches the rest of your administrator and works on a phone or tablet.
    • The version displays correctly. Extensions → Manage had been reporting an older version for this template regardless of the build installed.
    • A new Favicon tab lets you select any image and have the template build every icon size browsers and devices ask for, with a crop tool for non-square images.
    • Two headings that were meant to display in capitals now do. A find-and-replace in the original build had corrupted the styling rule behind them.
    • The icons on the Options screen render again. They had been loaded from an outside address for an old icon set that no longer resolves, so the screen came up with blank squares where its icons should be.
    • Tab and field labels tidied — several repeated the word “Settings” unnecessarily.

    The header

    • The header bar is solid, so its controls are visible. It had been rendering white while the account, register and search icons on it are also white — so they were effectively invisible until you scrolled far enough for the bar to darken.
    • The account, register and search icons are one matched set, sized and aligned together rather than each at its own size on its own line.
    • On wide screens the icon labels no longer overlap. Above about 1450 pixels the design shows a word beside each icon, and those words were running into the next control.
    • A small gap now separates each icon from its label instead of the glyph and the word touching.
    • Menu headings match the links beside them. A menu item used as a heading rather than a link was rendering smaller, in a different colour and at a different height from its neighbours.
    • The menu button no longer appears to have a fourth bar. Bootstrap 5 underlines links by default where Bootstrap 2 did not, and the underline fell directly beneath the three-bar icon in the same colour — so it read as part of the icon. The same stray dash sat under the account, register and search icons.

    Slideshow

    • The previous and next arrows are there. They were switched off in the template's own settings, so the slideshow could only be advanced by waiting. They are on by default now, always visible rather than appearing on mouse-hover, and sized as a proper touch target.
    • The slide dots sit along the bottom, in a row, instead of stacked in a vertical column pinned to the top-left corner of the slideshow.
    • Slide images size correctly instead of overflowing or leaving gaps at some screen widths.

    Phones and tablets

    • A proper mobile header. The menu button sits beside the logo and opens an accordion menu below the header, where opening one section closes the others.
    • The header no longer covers the slideshow. It sits above it, rather than floating over the top of the first slide and hiding its caption.
    • The menu button is white on the dark header rather than a dark grey that barely showed against it.
    • A utility row puts account, register, search and social controls together as properly sized touch targets.
    • Sub-menus have one open/close control, not two, and its plus sits at the right-hand edge in line with the others.
    • The page trail stays on a single line instead of wrapping over several and pushing the page content down.
    • The search box is a usable size — a full-width panel under the header with a proper touch-sized field — and the search button shows a magnifying glass rather than a blank square.
    • Sub-menus scroll instead of being cut off when a menu is longer than the screen, and the page can no longer be dragged sideways.
    • The utility-row icons are actually visible. Several were being drawn in almost the same colour as the button they sit on — in the worst case invisible — and the plus that expands a sub-menu in the drawer was similarly faint against its own background.
    • Two empty bands removed — a dark strip of header up to 200 pixels tall with nothing in it, and a further white gap of about 100 pixels under the page trail, left over from space the old design reserved for a search box.
    • The page trail no longer collapses on a tablet, where its links could run off the right edge and take the whole page sideways with them.
    • The footer menu links stay visible on a phone, the footer social icons sit centred, and the “back to top” control is a proper circle rather than a stretched oval.
    • A dead “Follow Us” side tab has gone. It only responded to a mouse hover, so on a touch screen it could never be opened at all — it simply sat there, sometimes over the page text.
    • Headings and module titles keep a margin from the screen edge instead of sitting flush against it.

    Log-in and registration

    • The account button opens the log-in dialog. The dialog is built from a module that had been left unpublished, so the button had nothing to open and did nothing at all when tapped.
    • A Register control now appears beside it — it comes from that same dialog, so it was missing for the same reason.
    • The “Sign in with a passkey” icon renders at normal size. Joomla 6 supplies that icon without a size, and because this template pre-dates that style of icon it expanded to fill the space, appearing as a large dark shape across the log-in area.
    • A broken control beside the log-in button has gone. A stray drop-down arrow, left over from styling copied out of the header, submitted the log-in form with an empty password and dropped you on an error page — taking “forgot password”, “forgot username” and “register” out of reach with it.
    • Registration fields fill the width on a phone. Email, name and company were rendering about a third of the screen wide with the rest of the row empty.

    Icons, fonts and menus

    • Font Awesome 6 replaces the Font Awesome 4 icon set, so icons render as sharp glyphs instead of blank squares.
    • The social network set is up to date — X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, Pinterest and Discord.
    • Drop-down menus no longer close before you can reach them. Moving the mouse from a heading down to its drop-down crossed a gap where neither was hovered.
    • Menu modules placed in a sidebar render as a proper vertical list again. Bootstrap 5 redefines the list style those menus use as a horizontal row, so a menu in a left or right column came out as a strip of wrapped, jumbled links.
    • Pagination arrows render correctly on article lists and blog layouts, and tall articles are no longer clipped to their title in the featured-article layout.
    • The show/hide password control renders as an eye rather than a small dot.
    • The details line under an article stays on the page. The author, category and published/updated dates could run off the right edge on a phone instead of wrapping.
    • Sidebar menus with sub-pages expand and collapse. On a desktop they had been dumping every level as one long flat list, with no way to fold a section away.

    Forms and search

    • Search and text fields keep their proper height. Bootstrap 5 measures a field's box differently from Bootstrap 2, so fields sized by the original design lost their padding out of the declared height.
    • The search field sits square in its row on full-size screens instead of riding high with empty space beneath it, and the button beside it stays flush against the field.
    • The label above the search box no longer prints as tiny grey text — it is hidden properly, the way an accessible label should be.
    • ⚠️ The site search now uses Joomla's Smart Search. allBusiness had been carrying Joomla 3's Search component, which Joomla removed from core years ago and which would have caused a fatal error the moment the backward-compatibility plugin was switched off. Your Search menu item keeps its label and position. One thing to do after installing: if you rely on site search, open Components → Smart Search in your administrator and run the indexer once, so the new search has content to find.

    Housekeeping

    • 5.7 MB of unused VirtueMart payment and shipping plugins removed. The install had been carrying eighteen of them — PayPal, Authorize.net, Skrill, Sofort, 2Checkout and more — left behind by an old migration. VirtueMart itself is not installed, so nothing could ever load them; they simply made the package larger and cluttered the extension list.
    • Build artefacts and stray files that had been shipping inside the package have been removed, along with two unused leftover template styles that had been cluttering your Template Manager list.
    • Font Awesome's stylesheet loaded twice on every page; it now loads once.
    • The footer copyright year is current.
    • The Quick Start installs Joomla 6.1.3 and, unlike the older Akeeba-based quick starts, lets you create your own administrator account during installation instead of shipping a shared password.

    Version 6.1.3

    Brisk 6.1.3 is a major rebuild — the first release of this template under Cybersalt, and the first that is Joomla 6 native. The design is deliberately unchanged: your layout, colours, fonts and menu choices all carry over. What changed is everything underneath, so that Brisk runs cleanly on current Joomla instead of depending on code Joomla has been retiring since version 4.

    If you are already running Brisk, install the template package over the top — your template settings are preserved and no re-configuration is needed.

    Joomla 6 native

    • Brisk now installs and runs on Joomla 6.1 without Joomla's backward-compatibility plugin. That plugin exists to keep very old extension code working, and Joomla 6 requires it switched off before it will allow the upgrade at all. Templates that still need it leave you stuck: turning it off breaks the site, leaving it on blocks the upgrade. Brisk now uses current Joomla APIs throughout and is tested with that plugin disabled.
    • Every call into retired Joomla APIs has been replaced — 82 aliased class references and a legacy error call, all now on the modern equivalents.
    • The template version matches the Joomla version it is built and tested against — this release is 6.1.3, built for Joomla 6.1.3.

    Modern framework

    • Rebuilt on Bootstrap 5. Brisk previously shipped Bootstrap 2, which Joomla dropped years ago. The grid, buttons, forms and drop-downs now use the framework Joomla itself loads — removing a large duplicate stylesheet from every page and stopping the two versions fighting over your layout.
    • Compatibility layer added for jQuery 3.7. Joomla 6 ships jQuery 3.7, which removed several functions templates of Brisk's generation relied on. Without the new compatibility script the slideshow controls and parallax bands stop responding on Joomla 6 — the page looks right but nothing moves.
    • Uncaught JavaScript errors on every page load are gone. Brisk was still calling jQuery plug-ins that no longer exist — the menu builder, the drop-down menu hover library, the background-image loader, the styled select boxes and a browser-detection helper. Each error stopped the rest of its script block from running, so unrelated features further down the page quietly died too.
    • Internet Explorer compatibility code and unused stylesheets removed.
    • Login and other pop-ups rebuilt on Joomla's current modal, and the log-in dialog is visible again — on the mixed stack it could open completely transparent, dimming the page around a box you could not see.
    • The pop-up's close button shows an × again. It had been painting as a solid block of the template's brand colour sitting on top of the "Login Form" heading, with no cross in it at all.
    • Tabbed modules show one panel at a time instead of rendering every panel at once, stacked down the page.
    • Text meant only for screen readers stays hidden — labels such as the search module's "Search" were painting on the page as stray grey micro-text.
    • The web-font loader no longer runs from the page. Brisk was fetching a third-party font script at load time; the fonts still load, without the extra outside request.

    Icons

    • Font Awesome updated from 4.6.3 to 6.5.2, with the version-4 compatibility shims kept so existing icon names in your content keep working.
    • Joomla's own icons render again. The show/hide-password control on the log-in form was an empty square, and the First / Previous / Next / Last pagination buttons were completely blank.
    • The show/hide-password control is visible on any button colour. It was drawn in fixed white, so on a pale button only the dark pupil survived and the control read as a single dot.
    • Social icons are visible again. The old icon-strip styling pushed the new icons thousands of pixels off-screen, leaving a row of blank boxes where your social links should be — on both the styled social bars and the ones that keep the template's own markup.
    • Social icons no longer show two glyphs on top of each other, with the old icon image still painting behind the new one in the same small box.
    • The retired Bootstrap 2 icon strip no longer shows through from behind the new icons.

    Slideshow

    • The home-page slideshow has been rebuilt on a current engine. The original slideshow script is unmaintained and does not survive modern jQuery; Brisk now uses Swiper, carrying across your timing, transition, pause-on-hover, pagination and navigation settings.
    • Fixed a slideshow that rendered completely blank. After the rebuild the slides had no height of their own while the page still reserved the full space for them — so the area was the right size and simply white. Every automated size check passed while the hero was invisible; it took driving the page to catch.
    • Slides sit at the top of the slideshow again instead of a third of the way down it, which had left a white band above every slide and clipped the caption's button off the bottom.
    • The back and next arrows are usable on a phone. They were set to appear only on mouse hover — something a touch screen never does — so there was no way to move between slides by hand.
    • Slide captions are preserved, and the slideshow keeps its proportions instead of stretching on wide screens.

    Menus and navigation

    • The custom mega-menu works on current Joomla. It read menu settings a way Joomla no longer supports, and it drew every level of the menu on top of itself instead of only the top level.
    • Drop-down menus stay open while you move onto them. There was a band of dead space between the menu bar and the menu it opened, so the drop-down closed before the pointer arrived.
    • Sidebar menu modules list vertically again. Under Bootstrap 5 every menu module turned into a wrapping horizontal strip of links, which shortened the column and dragged everything below it up the page.
    • Sidebar menus open one level at a time on a desktop instead of printing every page in the menu as a single long flat list.
    • Closed sub-menus take up no space again. A collapsed sub-menu still occupied its full height, so a sidebar menu could balloon to several times its size and push everything below it far down the page.
    • Menu items that point at software you do not have installed have been removed. A published Our Blog item pointed at K2, which is not part of this template — anyone clicking it got a 404. A working Blog item already existed and is untouched.
    • The section-menu panel no longer bolds a whole branch. Once you were inside a section, its heading and every item under it were rendered bold, which read as broken formatting rather than as a you-are-here cue. This only ever showed on interior pages.
    • The old desktop-only sub-menu markers no longer appear. The template emits a small + beside every parent menu item that was always meant for phones only; the rule hiding it on desktop was lost with Bootstrap 2, so it had been showing in the desktop menu bar ever since.

    Mobile experience

    • Brisk has a working mobile menu again. The library that built the old phone menu button was retired years ago, and with it went the button — on a phone there was no way to reach the menu at all. Brisk now ships a purpose-built mobile header: a menu button, a slide-in menu with expandable sub-menus, and a row of controls for account, register, search and social links.
    • The icons in that control row are visible. On several colour schemes they painted white on a white button — the control was there and showed nothing at all — and the template's general button styling was repainting them, leaving the register button blank and the rest too faint to read.
    • Each parent item in the slide-in menu has one open/close control, not two. The template's own chevron was showing alongside the new + button.
    • That + control is readable whatever your accent colour is; it was white on the template's own brand colour.
    • Sub-menus in the slide-in menu open in place instead of being pushed off the side of the screen the way the desktop drop-downs were positioned.
    • Both menu buttons now format the menu identically. Opening a sub-menu from the section-menu button showed its items with no indentation at all, so child pages read as though they were top-level ones; they now match the main menu exactly at every level.
    • The site name renders inside the phone header. It was being pulled upward into a bar the rebuilt header no longer places above it, which put it off the top of the screen entirely.
    • Module content no longer runs off the right edge on a phone. A 30-pixel desktop gutter was still being applied at phone width, shifting modules sideways and clipping the last words of a line off the screen.
    • Contact and component forms stack properly on a phone. They were still laying themselves out in desktop columns, with fields about a third of the width and too short to tap without the page zooming, module headings running flush to both edges of the screen, and the search button dropping onto its own line below the field.
    • Account and registration fields fill the width of a phone screen; some were as narrow as 75 pixels with the rest of the screen left empty beside them.
    • The "Follow Us" pull-tab no longer appears at the foot of a phone page, where it could only ever open on hover and duplicated the social button already in the mobile header.
    • Pages can no longer be dragged sideways on a phone. A fixed desktop width in the original CSS made the page wider than the screen, which also mis-sized every overlay that measured itself against it.
    • The mobile menu button is no longer rendered off the side of the screen, and the slide-in menu no longer opens with zero height or with the header covering its first link.
    • The menu button's bars are white on the dark header instead of near-black on near-black, which made the control almost impossible to see.
    • The dark bar carrying the site name and menu button now runs edge to edge and its contents sit centred in it, instead of being inset with a band of dead space below them.
    • A further round of phone and header tidy-ups: the retired mobile menu button no longer paints on desktop, account and register are no longer duplicated in the top bar on a phone, footer menu links are visible and footer social icons centred, and the back-to-top control is a circle with its arrow centred in it.

    Log in, register and search

    • The account pop-up on a phone is now a proper panel. It was the desktop drop-down being shown on a phone: it resolved against a zero-width cell and rendered as a 40-pixel sliver jammed against the right edge, with the form unusable inside it.
    • That panel now dims the page behind it and can be dismissed — by tapping outside it, pressing Escape, or tapping the account button again. Previously there was no way to close it at all.
    • Removed a drop-down arrow beside the Log in button that did nothing. It was built for Bootstrap 2 and current Joomla does not listen to it — and it was the only route to Forgot your password?, Forgot your username? and Create an account. Those three links are now shown directly under the Log in button, where they can actually be reached.
    • The Remember Me box in the log-in dialog is a checkbox again, instead of being styled as a full-width text field stretching right across the dialog on its own line.
    • The search box is a usable size again. It opened as a 170-pixel panel with a field 29 pixels tall; it now opens full width under the header on a phone and at least 320 pixels wide on a desktop, with a field big enough to tap and type in.
    • The search button in the mobile search panel is visible; it was rendering as a blank white square on white, with nothing to show it was the search control.
    • The search button sits against the search field again instead of drifting away from the box it belongs to.
    • Search and log-in fields no longer collapse. Bootstrap 5 measures text boxes differently, so the template's own fields lost their padding out of their declared height — the box shrank by about a third and the button beside it was cut off by a row no longer tall enough to hold it.
    • Log in, Register and the search icon line up with the menu in the header bar, instead of sitting a few pixels high.
    • Header links no longer carry an unwanted underline that Bootstrap 5 applies to link text by default.
    • The search page no longer stacks banner modules above the results. On a phone they pushed the first result more than 600 pixels down the page, below the fold.
    • The registration form is no longer preceded by unrelated modules, for the same reason.
    • The site search now uses Joomla's current search component. The retired one, its module and its plug-ins have been removed, and the menu item that pointed at it was repointed — keeping its label — so existing links still work.
    • The passkey / secure sign-in icon renders at the correct size on the login form.

    Layout and readability

    • The header keeps its full height and the slideshow its full width. A change in how Bootstrap 5 measures boxes shrank the header, let the logo and menu spill out below it, and squeezed the slideshow band into a narrow strip.
    • The fixed header sits at the top of the page at full width again, instead of part-way down and only as wide as its own contents, which left a band of empty space above the site and the menu jammed to the left.
    • The header no longer disappears behind the slideshow. It was present and the right size but painted underneath the hero image, so on the home page there was nothing there to click.
    • Sections no longer stack on top of one another. A band whose contents all float collapsed to nothing, so the section beneath rode up and painted over it.
    • Full-width bands reach the edges of the layout again, instead of the footer band sitting inset with bare page background down both sides while every other band ran full width.
    • Side-column modules no longer stretch to the height of the whole row — one module would balloon to the full height of a section and push its neighbours off the bottom of the page or paint over the footer.
    • The footer no longer paints over the end of an article on pages using the full-height wrapper.
    • Fixed a row wrapper that stretched the header. Old block wrappers were being treated as grid rows by Bootstrap 5, which on some pages made the header several times taller than it should be.
    • Pages no longer scroll sideways at desktop and tablet widths, either — a row holding a wide component refused to shrink to its container, and the drop-down panels that are parked off-screen when closed were still being counted as part of the page's width.
    • Article details no longer run off the side of the page — the Written by / Category / Published / Hits line was held to a single line that could not wrap.
    • The breadcrumb trail on a phone is legible and fits on one line. It was rendering white text over a pale, heavily-enlarged crop of the background photograph — measured at a contrast ratio of 1.2:1 where 4.5:1 is the accessibility standard, so parts of the trail were effectively invisible — and it wrapped onto three lines. It now sits on its own dark strip, using the template's own colours, and scrolls sideways if the path is long.
    • Page content is no longer shifted right by a stray gutter. Bootstrap 5 adds padding that Bootstrap 2 did not, which moved every page a few pixels off centre.
    • Text buttons in the header keep their size. A shared icon-button rule was collapsing text controls such as Login Form and Register into a 32-pixel square, so the labels overlapped their neighbours.

    Security and PHP 8

    • Output is escaped throughout the template — 197 places where template settings and content were written to the page unescaped now pass through Joomla's escaping helpers, closing off cross-site-scripting through template parameters.
    • PHP 8 compatibility fixes in the login and breadcrumb module overrides, which relied on variables PHP 8 no longer supplies automatically and produced warnings or blank output.
    • Retired Joomla 3 behaviour calls removed. These are fatal on Joomla 5 and later — a page that hit one returned a 500 error rather than rendering.
    • All template PHP is syntax-checked as part of the build, and the packaged template carries no stray server logs or backup files.

    Template settings

    • The template's own settings screens are Joomla 5/6 native. 52 on/off controls used a Joomla 3 markup pattern that no longer renders as a switch; all are now native switches.
    • All 89 colour fields use Joomla's built-in colour picker, so you get a real picker with a preview swatch instead of a plain text box expecting a hex code.
    • The favicon tools (upload, preview and crop) are present and working.

    Housekeeping

    • A second, complete copy of the template that was sitting on the server has been removed. It was fully servable and would have been included in the quickstart package.
    • Left-over language overrides and menu entries from software that is not part of this template have been cleared out, along with stale extension records that made Joomla offer to "discover" things that no longer exist.
    • The version shown in the template's own description now matches the version Joomla reports. These had never agreed on Brisk — the description showed an unrelated date-stamped number.
    • Copyright, author and support details are now Cybersalt's, and page-view counters and stale dates left over from the demo content have been reset.

    Brisk was rebuilt and verified by driving the rendered site — 16 page types at desktop and phone widths, checked for JavaScript errors, layout overflow, and every control that was reported during testing — not by reading the files alone.
