Version 6.2.0
Joomla 6.2.0. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 6.2.0 (Joomla 6.2.0 release notes), and the template version is now 6.2.0 to match.
Error pages. "Page not found" and "access denied" pages now show inside the template, with its header, menus and footer, and fit a phone screen.
Phones. The sidebar no longer shows an empty "Main Menu" heading (its links are in the phone menu).
Quickstart. A fresh install no longer lists stale update notices.
October 2, 2026Version 6.1.4.1
Quickstart fix. The Quickstart no longer fails to install on MySQL hosts with a "prepared statement protocol" error. Thanks to Iryna for reporting this. The template itself is unchanged apart from its version number.
Quickstart. Removed leftover files from the quickstart's top folder.
September 30, 2026Version 6.1.4
Joomla 6.1.4. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 6.1.4, a security and bug-fix release (Joomla 6.1.4 release notes), and the template version is now 6.1.4 to match. There are no visual changes. Installing the template update does not update Joomla itself; update Joomla from System → Update → Joomla.
September 30, 2026Version 6.1.3.6
Fix. After the previous security update, print and email views, popup windows and the VirtueMart checkout step (pages served with
tmpl=component) could return an error page. The template'scomponent.phpnow defines the escaping helper it uses. There are no visual changes. Please update if you installed the previous version.September 28, 2026Version 6.1.3.5
Security update. Module, menu and tab titles are now escaped wherever the template writes them into your pages (module headings, title attributes and the mega menu), so a title containing a quote or markup can no longer break out of its place in the page. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.
September 28, 2026Version 6.1.3.4
Security update. Every template setting that is written into your pages is now escaped for the place it lands in (HTML, attributes, CSS and JavaScript), so a setting value can no longer break out of its context. The error page now escapes its message and title too. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.
September 10, 2026Version 6.1.3.3
Fixed a problem where a large logo could fill the whole screen on phones. The stylesheet that keeps this template working with current Joomla was letting the header logo draw at its own full size on small screens instead of scaling it down to fit the space, so a logo wider than the phone screen — common, since logos are usually exported at 1500 pixels or more to stay sharp — pushed the header out and showed visitors a giant close-up of one or two letters instead of the site. Logos now scale down to fit on every screen size, and a logo already small enough to fit is displayed exactly as before. Update the template to pick this up; if you built your site from the Quick Start, a rebuilt one is on your downloads page.
September 3, 2026Version 6.1.3.2
Maintenance release.
- Updated the Bootstrap 2→5 compatibility stylesheet to the current version, bringing this template in line with the rest of the range.
- Fixed: paginated pages returned a 500 error on PHP 8. Any page with pagination — on a shop template that includes the category listing — could fail with a server error instead of displaying. The cause was a leftover test in the pagination override that is invalid on PHP 8; the dead code has been removed.
Both the template package and the Quick Start have been rebuilt for this release. Download the latest from your member area.
August 19, 2026Version 6.1.3.1
Please update if you downloaded Creativa on 18 or 19 August 2026. The 6.1.3 package went out with a copy of our shared Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet that was a week out of date, with the older mobile-header script, and with a stray build archive left inside the template folder. Its release notes described fixes that were not actually inside the file you received. 6.1.3.1 is that same release with the correct files in it. Nothing you have configured changes; install it over the top as usual.
This is a packaging correction plus a substantial catch-up of the shared stylesheet. Creativa goes from 78 to 106 layout-guard blocks, covering everything found across our template range between 11 and 19 August. Every item below was measured on a rendered page, not inferred from a file.
Fixed
- The register button in the phone header was a blank white square. Measured at 375 px on Creativa: a white pencil icon on a white button, a contrast ratio of 1.00:1 — the control was there, 44 × 44 px and tappable, and painted nothing at all. Creativa's own tweaks file was forcing a white background and dark text onto every button in that row, which overrode the accent colour the shared stylesheet applies to the register button. Those two declarations have been withdrawn from the tweaks file so the shared rules can own the button colouring; everything genuinely specific to Creativa in that file — size, border, corner radius, cursor — is untouched.
- The phone social panel opened with bullet graphics beside the icons and the icons wrapped onto two rows. Creativa's typography stylesheet puts a bullet image and a 24 px indent on every plain list item, and the social icons are copied into the panel as a plain list, so they inherited both. Measured before and after: the panel was 138 px tall with bullets and two rows of icons, and is now 72 px with one clean row.
- The log-in dialog's close button was a solid coloured block sitting on top of the "Login Form" heading. The Bootstrap 5 close control draws its × from Bootstrap 5's own stylesheet, which these templates deliberately do not ship — so it painted an empty box with no cross in it. The dialog now closes from a proper ×, and the button no longer covers the title.
- Joomla 6's passkey button drew an enormous black graphic across the log-in page. The "Sign in with a passkey" icon is supplied by Joomla as a drawing with no size of its own, and no template in this generation sizes one, so it expanded to fill whatever space it could find. It is now capped to a normal icon and takes the button's own colour.
- The article information line ran off the side of the page. Written by, parent category, category, published, created, last updated and hits were laid out on one line that was not allowed to wrap, so on a phone the later items simply ran past the edge of the screen — and that was the whole of the page's sideways scroll. The line now wraps.
- Icon buttons in the phone header could be completely invisible. Where the template's own stylesheets set a white icon colour, the icon landed on a white button and disappeared. Icon colour is now decided by the button's own background rather than inherited, so account, search, social and menu icons are always readable.
- The phone header icon row was unevenly spaced and clipped at both ends. Two spacing systems were fighting; the row now uses one, and the whole set fits and centres on a 375 px screen.
- The slideshow's previous and next arrows were too small to hit reliably on a touch screen and the chevron sat off-centre inside them. They are now a 44 × 44 px target with the arrow drawn centred.
- Pages could be scrolled sideways at tablet widths even though nothing visible overflowed. The drop-down menu panels are parked out of sight above the page, but only vertically — horizontally they still sat inside it and still counted towards the page's width. They are now parked out of the way in both directions.
- The controls at the top right of the desktop header were different sizes on different midlines. Register and account now share one box, one icon size and one baseline.
- A navigation bar containing a floated item no longer pushes the next row of content sideways. Bootstrap 2 shipped a clear-fix on navigation lists that Bootstrap 5 dropped; without it the row below snagged on the menu and lost a column.
- Breadcrumbs could run off the right edge on interior pages at 1024 and 768 px. The row holding them resolved to zero width, so the links had nothing to wrap inside.
- Old-style grid rows on category and blog pages no longer collapse. Rows whose children are all floated took no height at all, so the row's own background painted as a thin sliver and whatever followed rode up into it.
- The "+" expanders in the phone menu drawer take a colour derived from their own background rather than a fixed white that could land on a pale panel.
- Registration and account fields were unusably narrow on a phone. Several were about a third of the screen wide with the rest of the width empty beside them, because they were sized for a two-column desktop layout that no longer applies once the form stacks. They now use the full width.
- Tooltips, popovers, mobile menu and drop-down behaviour, phone header spacing, non-responsive page bands and full-height column panels all pick up further guards added across the range in this period.
Removed
- A stray build archive shipped inside the template.
html/layouts.zip— a zipped copy of the template's own override folder, left behind by an earlier build — was present in the 6.1.3 package and is gone from 6.1.3.1. It was never used by Joomla, but it sat inside your site's template folder and duplicated template source in a publicly-addressable location. If you installed 6.1.3, updating removes it.
Changed
- The mobile header and menu script is now the shared build used across the whole range (
js/cs-mobile-generic.js, replacingjs/cs-mobile.js). Behaviour is the same; the template now receives improvements to the phone header at the same time as every other template we publish. - The Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet moves from the 11 August build to the 19 August build — 78 guard blocks to 106.
Unchanged
- The Quick Start still installs Joomla 6.1.3. Nothing in the sample site, its content or its extensions changed in this release — but the Quick Start has been rebuilt so that a new site started from it gets the corrected template files rather than the 18 August ones.
- No template setting, colour parameter, module position or override changed.
Most of the items above were found by walking rendered pages across our template range during August — Encore, Energize, Oxygen, Vision, Progressive, Crystal, Impulsa and Diversity — and applied here both where they were measured on Creativa itself and preventatively where they were not.
August 18, 2026Version 6.1.3
Creativa 6.1.3 is a maintenance release. It renumbers the template to match the Joomla version it is built and tested against, refreshes the Quick Start onto the current Joomla release, and brings the Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet up to the current shared build. There are no changes you need to make after updating — your settings, colours and menu choices carry over.
Version numbering
- The template version now matches the Joomla version it ships against. Creativa 6.1.3 is the build for Joomla 6.1.3. The previous release of this template was numbered 6.1.2.5. This is a numbering change only — Joomla still treats 6.1.3 as newer than 6.1.2.5, so the update comparison in your Extensions Manager behaves normally, and nothing about how you install or update the template changes. We are applying the same convention across the whole template range so that the number on the download tells you at a glance which Joomla release it was tested against.
Quick Start
- The Quick Start package now installs Joomla 6.1.3. The previous Quick Start bundled Joomla 6.1.2. If you are building a new site from the Quick Start you now get the current Joomla release straight away, instead of installing and then immediately having to run a core update.
- The Quick Start is a standard Joomla installation package — upload it, extract it, and run the normal Joomla installer in your browser. Akeeba Kickstart is not needed.
Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet
- Brought up to the current shared build, adding twenty-five further layout guards since 6.1.2.5. These were found and fixed on other templates in our range during August, and are included here as a preventative update so that Creativa is protected against the same classes of problem rather than waiting for one of them to surface on your site. The areas covered are: drop-down menu behaviour and flow; mobile header layout, ordering and spacing; slideshow controls on touch screens, which are revealed on hover and so were unreachable by tap; social icon rendering where a template's own image sprite competed with the Font Awesome 6 glyphs that replaced it; tooltips and popovers becoming visible on the page before they were triggered; page bands that pin themselves to a fixed desktop width and so scroll sideways on a phone; grid children that lost their block display; and full-height column panels that clipped the content they were meant to wrap.
What is not in this release
- No template file other than the Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet changed between 6.1.2.5 and 6.1.3. Everything shipped in the 6.1.2.x line — the Joomla 6 native rebuild, the removal of the JavaScript errors that fired on every page load, the jQuery compatibility layer that keeps the slideshow and parallax bands working, the log-in dialog that now opens fully visible, the mobile overflow and drawer fixes, and the drop-down menu positioning corrections — is carried forward unchanged in this package.
- Known limitation, unchanged and disclosed: the template still loads jQuery and a number of carried-forward jQuery plug-ins, and the collapsible module chromes retain MooTools code that no longer runs, so those chromes do not collapse. These are carried-forward behaviours, not regressions introduced here, and addressing them is a larger piece of work than a maintenance release should carry.
With thanks to Michael Mullan, whose Expression bug report led to the maintenance pass across our templates that several of these compatibility-stylesheet guards came out of.
August 10, 2026Version 6.1.2.5
- Drop-down menus no longer appear open before you hover them. On some templates every sub-menu was drawn on the page from the moment it loaded. They are hidden again until you move the mouse over the menu.
- Drop-downs sit directly beneath the menu they open from. They previously appeared a short distance below, and moving the mouse across that space closed the menu before you arrived. Sub-menus that open to the side are likewise flush against the column they come from.
August 10, 2026Version 6.1.2.4
- Drop-down menus now sit directly beneath the menu they open from. They previously appeared a short distance below, and moving the mouse across that space closed the menu before you arrived. Sub-menus that open to the side are likewise flush against the column they come from.
August 10, 2026Version 6.1.2.3
Maintenance release. This update is recommended for all users — it removes JavaScript errors that could stop other features on the page from working, and improves the template's behaviour on phones.
- Removed leftover calls to jQuery plugins that are no longer bundled. A call to a missing plugin stops every remaining script in the same block from running, so this can affect features that look unrelated.
- Added a small compatibility layer for three jQuery methods that were removed before the version Joomla 6 ships, so slideshow controls and parallax backgrounds keep working.
- Updated the Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet to the current build.
- The log-in dialog now always opens fully visible. Previously it could open with the page dimmed behind it but the dialog itself invisible.
- Pages no longer scroll sideways on a phone, and the mobile menu, search and social panels are now sized to the screen rather than to the full page width.
August 7, 2026Version 6.1.2.2
Maintenance release.
- Fixed: the password show/hide eye on registration and profile forms was invisible (the button had no background, leaving only the dark centre pupil showing) — the toggle now uses the standard dark button so the white eye icon is clearly visible.
August 7, 2026Version 6.1.2.1
Maintenance release. Three features that had been quietly dead since Joomla dropped the MooTools JavaScript framework are now working again, the template no longer ships any unused JavaScript, and the site console is clean. This release closes the "Known limitations" item published with 6.1.2. No settings change and no action is needed beyond updating.
Fixed
- The collapsible module styles collapse again. Both toggleModule styles were written for MooTools, a framework Joomla removed years ago, so clicking the heading did nothing — this had been broken since Joomla 3. They have been rewritten dependency-free and now open and close with a smooth slide. This was the limitation disclosed in 6.1.2.
- The slideshow parallax effect works again. The Turn ON/OFF Parallax setting had nothing behind it: the effect was also MooTools-based and had only been producing a console error. It has been rewritten in plain JavaScript with the original layer movement preserved, so the setting does what it says once more. A long-standing bug was fixed along the way — the original attached a new mouse handler every time the pointer entered the slideshow, stacking handlers for as long as the page stayed open.
- Touch swipe on the slideshow works again on phones and tablets. The bundled jQuery Mobile build was failing during its own start-up against the current jQuery and registering no gesture handlers at all, so the left/right swipes the slideshow listens for were never delivered. It has been replaced with a small purpose-built swipe handler.
- No more browser console errors. The template rendered three JavaScript errors on every page load at the start of this work and now renders none.
Removed
- 22 unused JavaScript libraries, about 343 KB. None were loaded by the template. Among them was jQuery 1.8.1 from 2012, which has publicly documented security vulnerabilities — shipping it, even unused, is something a security scan will flag. Also removed: superfish, supersubs, dropkick, owl.carousel, nicescroll, selectric, elevateZoom, backstretch, modernizr, selectivizr and others. If you referenced one of these directly in your own custom code, add your own copy — the template no longer provides them.
- A dead template file that used the Joomla 3 module-chrome programming interface, which Joomla 4 replaced. Every style it defined already exists in the modern format, so it was duplicate code that Joomla never called.
- The orphaned "Nice Tipz Labels" setting, which controlled a tooltip script that no longer ships. The setting had no effect.
Requirements
- Joomla 6.1 or newer · PHP 8.3 or newer · Bootstrap 5
- The quickstart bundles Joomla 6.1.2.
Known limitations
- The slideshow still uses camera.js and therefore still loads jQuery. These are working dependencies rather than dead code, but they remain on the list to modernize.
August 6, 2026Version 6.1.2
Major release — Creativa is now genuinely Joomla 6 native. This is the largest update Creativa has ever had. The template has been rebuilt from Bootstrap 2 onto Bootstrap 5, every Joomla 3-era programming call has been replaced with its modern Joomla 6 equivalent, output escaping has been applied throughout for security, the content area has been widened for today's screens, the phone experience has been built from scratch, and a long list of faults — several quietly broken for years — has been fixed. The quickstart ships Joomla 6.1.2. Everything below is in both the standalone package and the quickstart, and your existing settings are preserved.
Added
- Joomla 6 native foundation. Creativa no longer depends on Joomla's Behaviour — Backward Compatibility plugin, so it keeps working when that plugin is switched off — which is Joomla 6's own default. This matters more than it sounds: a template still relying on that plugin blocks the upgrade rather than merely misbehaving afterwards. Fifty obsolete Joomla 3-era calls were rewritten to reach this point.
- Security hardening throughout the template. Every value the template prints — settings, colours, dimensions, module output — now passes through proper output escaping, across 84 call sites. This closes the cross-site-scripting exposure class that unescaped template parameters create.
- A much wider content area. On large screens the page now uses up to 1440 pixels instead of the 940 it was locked to, so content, images and module rows have room to breathe on a modern monitor. Tablet and phone widths are unchanged.
- A real mobile menu. Creativa previously had no mobile menu at all — on a phone it printed the entire menu tree as one long list, pushing the actual page content far below the fold. The main menu now opens from a large, easy-to-tap button in the header and shows your menu as an accordion, with a second row of controls for the sidebar menu, log in, register, search and social links.
- Working search on phones. There was no way to search from a phone. There is now a full-width search box with its own submit button, wired to Joomla's Smart Search.
- A Favicon tab with a built-in crop tool. Choose any image in the template settings and Creativa automatically produces every icon size browsers and devices ask for — a real
favicon.icopublished at your site root, plus 32, 192 and 512 pixel icons and a 180 pixel Apple touch icon. If your image isn't square, the crop tool lets you pick exactly which square part becomes the icon. No FTP, no external service. - A proper colour picker. All 34 colour settings now open a real colour picker with a live swatch and opacity support. Previously they were plain text boxes — the old picker script was never actually loaded by the template, so you had to type hex codes by hand.
- Modern social networks. Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon and Discord have been added. Icons are now scalable Font Awesome 6 vectors, so they stay sharp at any size.
- Modern settings switches. All 36 on/off options in the template settings are now native Joomla switches instead of the old Joomla 3-era checkbox widget, so they render and behave correctly in the Joomla 6 administrator.
- Font Awesome upgraded from 4.6.3 to 6.5.2 across the whole template, with compatibility shims so any Font Awesome 4 icon names used in your own content keep working.
Fixed
- Sidebar rendered above the content instead of beside it. On pages with a sidebar module the menu stacked on top of the article area rather than sitting alongside it.
- Featured articles left a third of the row empty. The front-page article grid flowed downwards rather than across, so with three articles the last column stayed blank. It now fills the full width in reading order.
- Slideshow was cut off at the bottom. The slide area was a fixed height while the slides themselves were sized from the page width, so on wide screens and on phones the lower part of each image disappeared behind the section below it.
- Slideshow captions sat off-centre, and the navigation arrows on phones were clipped at the screen edges. Captions are now centred and the arrows sit fully visible against each edge.
- The log-in pop-up used obsolete Bootstrap 2 markup and would not open on a current Joomla. It has been migrated to Bootstrap 5, centred, with working close controls.
- The drop-down menu depended on three abandoned jQuery plug-ins (superfish, supersubs, and a jQuery 1 browser-detection shim). It has been rewritten in plain JavaScript with a hover delay, so the menu no longer relies on code that has not been maintained in a decade.
- Pagination arrows and the password show/hide eye rendered as empty squares. Joomla 4 and later emit icon names the template had no artwork for; all of them are now mapped to Font Awesome 6.
- Featured articles could be clipped to just their title when displayed in a single-column layout.
- Sideways scrolling on phones. The dropdown menus were being positioned off-screen to the right, making the whole page scroll horizontally. Search results did the same, because long result URLs could not wrap.
- Footer and header columns bunched to one side instead of spreading across the page, and the footer copyright sat mid-page rather than at the right edge.
- A PHP 8 warning in the breadcrumbs override when no module class suffix was set.
- An invalid CSS property appeared twice in the settings file —
text-creativa, a mangledtext-transforminherited from the template this design was originally built from. - The template shipped an administrator script that could not run on Joomla 6, plus an unused colour-picker library. Both have been removed.
- Retired dead components. The obsolete Joomla 3 search component, the old Bootstrap 2 files and several leftover development files no longer ship. Menu links that pointed at the old search now point at Joomla's Smart Search, keeping their labels.
- The version shown in the Joomla admin now tracks the real release version. It had been displaying a 2013-era number.
Requirements
- Joomla 6.1 or newer · PHP 8.3 or newer · Bootstrap 5
- The quickstart bundles Joomla 6.1.2.
Known limitations
- The two collapsible module styles do not collapse. Their code targets MooTools, a JavaScript framework Joomla removed years ago, so the collapse action has not worked for a long time. The files load without error — assigning one of these styles will not break a page — but the collapse itself is inert. A dependency-free rewrite is queued for a follow-up release.
- Some carried-forward libraries remain. The slideshow still uses camera.js and therefore still loads jQuery. These are working dependencies rather than dead code, but they are on the list to modernize.
