October 14, 2026
Version 5.4.10
Joomla 5.4.10. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 5.4.10 (Joomla 5.4.10 release notes), and the template version is now 5.4.10 to match.
Error pages. "Page not found" and "access denied" pages now show inside the template, with its header, menus and footer, and fit a phone screen.
Phones. The text over the photo band no longer touches the screen edge.
Quickstart. A fresh install no longer lists stale update notices.
October 2, 2026Version 5.4.9.1
Quickstart fix. The Quickstart no longer fails to install on MySQL hosts with a "prepared statement protocol" error. Thanks to Iryna for reporting this. The template itself is unchanged apart from its version number.
Quickstart. Removed leftover files from the quickstart's top folder.
September 30, 2026Version 5.4.9
Joomla 5.4.9. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 5.4.9, a security and bug-fix release (Joomla 5.4.9 release notes), and the template version is now 5.4.9 to match. There are no visual changes. Installing the template update does not update Joomla itself; update Joomla from System → Update → Joomla.
September 30, 2026Version 5.4.8.4
Fix. After the previous security update, print and email views, popup windows and the VirtueMart checkout step (pages served with
tmpl=component) could return an error page. The template'scomponent.phpnow defines the escaping helper it uses. There are no visual changes. Please update if you installed the previous version.September 28, 2026Version 5.4.8.3
Security update. Module, menu and tab titles are now escaped wherever the template writes them into your pages (module headings, title attributes and the mega menu), so a title containing a quote or markup can no longer break out of its place in the page. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.
September 28, 2026Version 5.4.8.2
Security update. Every template setting that is written into your pages is now escaped for the place it lands in (HTML, attributes, CSS and JavaScript), so a setting value can no longer break out of its context. The error page now escapes its message and title too. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.
September 10, 2026Version 5.4.8.1
Fixed a problem where a large logo could fill the whole screen on phones. The stylesheet that keeps this template working with current Joomla was letting the header logo draw at its own full size on small screens instead of scaling it down to fit the space, so a logo wider than the phone screen — common, since logos are usually exported at 1500 pixels or more to stay sharp — pushed the header out and showed visitors a giant close-up of one or two letters instead of the site. Logos now scale down to fit on every screen size, and a logo already small enough to fit is displayed exactly as before. Update the template to pick this up; if you built your site from the Quick Start, a rebuilt one is on your downloads page.
August 21, 2026Version 5.4.8
This is the first release of Envisage from Cybersalt. Envisage is a VirtueMart template, so it ships against Joomla 5.4.8 with VirtueMart 4.8.0 — the current Joomla 5 series — rather than Joomla 6. The template's front end has been modernized onto Bootstrap 5 and Font Awesome 6, its mobile experience rebuilt, and the bundled demo store repaired so the sample catalogue is reachable and complete.
Added
- A colour picker on all 54 colour settings in the template's Options screen, replacing plain text fields that required typing hex codes by hand.
- A complete phone header: the site name and slogan in a bar at the top, with a row of five full-size (44×44) touch controls beneath it — menu, account, register, search and share.
- A slide-out drawer menu with expandable sub-menus, so sub-items open in place rather than navigating away.
- A share control that opens the social panel, drawn as an inline graphic that needs no icon font, no sprite sheet and no request to an outside host.
- Font Awesome 6.5.2, with version-4 compatibility shims so icons already used in your own content keep working.
- Eight current social networks in the template settings: Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest and Discord.
- A password show/hide control on the log-in and registration forms, which previously rendered as an empty square.
- The cart joins the phone control row as a matching round button, rather than sitting on its own as a bare icon.
- Sidebar menus gain expandable sections at desktop width, so deeper levels can be reached without leaving the page.
- Envisage now ships as a proper installable package. No package manifest had ever existed for this template.
Changed
- The template reports its true version — 5.4.8 — everywhere it is shown: the install manifest, the Template Version line on its own description panel, the file header, and the cached copy Joomla's admin actually reads.
- Extensions → Manage no longer shows a decade-old version. The cached manifest had been reporting “26.05.2015 3.4.1”, because Joomla reads that cached record rather than the file on disk. It has been rebuilt from the corrected manifest.
- The bundled shop is VirtueMart 4.8.0 — the component and all seven VirtueMart modules.
- The Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility layer was brought fully up to date, taking the template's chrome from 85 to 113 fix blocks — every modal, overflow, form and mobile-header guard the rest of our range already had.
- The phone menu chrome was rebuilt on the current shared build.
- The demo store is now called “VirtueMart Sample store”. It had been advertising itself as “VirtueMart 3 Sample store”, a full major version behind the VirtueMart that actually ships.
- The social control shows a share mark rather than the retired Twitter bird — one dead brand was the wrong label for a control that opens a panel of several networks.
- Twitter is labelled “X (formerly Twitter)” where it still appears.
- The web font is linked directly from the page rather than fetched by a JavaScript loader.
- Both phone menus — the main drawer and the section panel — now use identical formatting: the same sub-menu indentation, the same expand controls and the same active-item weight. Only their contents differ.
- The template's accent colour is derived from its own palette, so the phone menu controls render in Envisage's blue with their text colour chosen automatically for contrast.
- Copyright and authorship updated to Cybersalt Consulting Ltd and energizethemes.com.
Fixed
- The log-in form no longer produces a fatal error. A Joomla 3-era form-validation call, removed in Joomla 5, was still being made by the VirtueMart log-in override and produced a hard 500 — behavior::formvalidation not found. It has been replaced with the Joomla 5 equivalent across the log-in template and its variants. Any visitor could trigger this, signed in or not.
- The shop is reachable from the main menu again. The “Online Store” entry and its entire category tree — ten items across two levels — had been left in the trash, so a 43-product sample catalogue could only be reached through a secondary menu.
- Ten missing catalogue images now display. Every image reference in the shop was audited: 84 references, ten of them pointing at files that were not there. All ten are now present, so the sample store shows a complete set of category and product pictures.
- The account icon opens the log-in dialog. It had been opening the “Follow us” panel instead — the log-in link carried a pop-up target aimed at the social panel while its address pointed at the log-in form, and Bootstrap 5 follows the target.
- The gap between the search and account icons in the header is gone. It was an inherited list indent rather than deliberate spacing, and left the two icons 52px apart in a row where everything else sat 10 to 14px apart.
- The share icon is drawn at the same size as the icons beside it.
- On a phone, the slideshow no longer runs up into the header, so slide captions no longer print on top of the site name.
- The menu button's bars are centred in the button. The glyph is drawn for a larger control than the one it now sits in, so its third bar hung outside its own frame and the whole mark sat low. Both menu buttons are now correctly centred, and the button's open state still forms a clean cross.
- The client logos sit two to a line on a phone, with proper spacing above and below, instead of stacking one per line down the page.
- The text beside the client logos no longer runs to the very edges of the screen.
- The duplicate share button beneath the menu button is gone; the control in the icon row does that job.
- An empty reserved strip beneath the header is gone on phones — most visible on the account and log-in views, where it left a band of blank space.
- Pagination controls — First, Previous, Next and Last — draw arrows rather than blank boxes. Joomla 4 and later emit icon names that the template's original icon set never contained.
- A tall single-column article in the Featured Articles view is no longer clipped to just its headline.
- The template no longer leaks an internal documentation comment into the page source.
- The page cannot be dragged sideways on a phone. Measured with no horizontal overflow on the home page, the storefront and the store landing page at 375px.
- The phone menu controls meet accessibility contrast guidance, measured between 6.7:1 and 12.6:1 against their backgrounds.
- The storefront renders correctly at desktop width — 194 product elements, 77 add-to-cart controls and prices, with no horizontal overflow.
Fixed — the shop
- Tapping the cart on a phone opened a 28-pixel grey sliver instead of the cart contents. The cart summary now opens centred on the screen at a readable width.
- The cart summary panel hung off the edge of the screen — half off-screen on a phone, jammed against the right on desktop. It is now centred and sized to its contents.
- The cart's contents printed permanently down the side of every page beside the cart button, and pushed the whole page 26 pixels wider than the screen.
- Every product tile in the shop had a stray bullet point beside its thumbnail.
- On tabbed product modules, every tab's contents rendered at once as one long list instead of a tab at a time.
- A row of products could collapse to a 15-pixel sliver, so its background painted as a thin band and whatever followed rode up into the product tiles.
- The last product in each row of the catalogue wrapped onto a line of its own, leaving a ragged grid.
- Product tiles were drawn at the template's width rather than the shop's, leaving a wide empty channel down the right of the product grid.
- On tabbed product modules the first row of products snagged under the tab strip, so a four-across grid came out three, then four, then one.
- The “Search for products” button was cut off along its bottom edge, because the row holding the search box was not tall enough for it.
- The currency selector's label sat flush against its own left border, and a long currency name ran underneath the drop-down arrow.
- On a phone, VirtueMart's registration and profile forms rendered their fields about a third of the screen wide with the rest of the row empty. Every field now uses the full width.
- The 30-pixel gaps between the modules on the home page had disappeared, so they ran edge to edge, each wider than designed; and the promo strip rendered 117 pixels narrower than its design, inset from the rest of the page.
Fixed — elsewhere
- A dead drop-down arrow beside the “Log in” button submitted the form with an empty password and threw the visitor onto an error page. The three links it was meant to reveal — forgotten password, forgotten username and register — could not be reached by any other route. They now appear plainly in the log-in box and the dead arrow is gone.
- The social panel opened completely empty on a phone; its icons were being pulled outside the panel they had just been placed in.
- The close button on the log-in box was a solid coloured block sitting on top of the words “Login Form”. It is now a proper close mark on the right of the title.
- The slideshow's previous and next arrows were invisible on a phone or tablet, so there was no way to move between slides on a touch screen. They are now finger-sized with a centred chevron, and the slide markers are dots rather than numbered squares.
- Sidebar menu modules laid themselves out sideways across the column instead of as a vertical list, wrapping onto two rows and pushing everything below them down the page.
- Desktop drop-down menus closed before the pointer could reach them, because of a 23 to 30 pixel dead gap between a menu item and its sub-menu.
- An article's byline details — Written by, Category, Published, Created, Last Updated, Hits — refused to wrap and ran off the side of the page.
- At tablet width, breadcrumb links ran off the right-hand edge on article and account pages; breadcrumbs also drew one crumb per line with a bullet beside each, and now read as a single line.
- The search box was too small to use — a narrow drop-down with a 29-pixel field. On a phone it is now a full-width panel with a finger-sized field that does not make the page zoom when tapped; on desktop it is at least 320 pixels wide.
- The search button inside the phone search panel rendered as a blank white square; it now always shows a magnifier. The button also sits against its field again rather than floating away from it, and no longer drops onto a second line.
- A large empty white band beneath the breadcrumb bar on phones is gone — space that had been reserved for a search box the phone header no longer puts there.
- A dead “Follow us” tab sat across the foot of every phone page, doing nothing when tapped and duplicating the share control in the header.
- A stray line of small grey text above the search field is gone — a label Joomla emits for screen readers, with nothing telling it to stay hidden.
- The back-to-top button is a circle with its arrow centred rather than a squashed oval; footer menu links are visible again on phones; footer social icons are centred; the breadcrumb band no longer reserves 86 pixels of empty space; log-in, registration and account fields use the full width of the screen; and tabbed module titles fit on their own lines instead of overflowing.
- Contact and other component forms stack properly on a phone, with full-width, finger-sized fields.
- The retired old mobile menu button can no longer appear on desktop.
Removed
- The Joomla 3-era form-validation call, from the VirtueMart log-in override and its variants.
- The JavaScript web-font loader, replaced by a direct stylesheet link.
- The retired Twitter bird icon.
- StumbleUpon and other closed networks from the social settings.
- Every legacy Joomla class alias in the template's own code, measured at zero.
Security
- Output from the database and from template settings is escaped before it reaches the page, through a dedicated helper used at 36 call sites — closing a class of cross-site-scripting exposure.
- Removing the obsolete form-validation call also closes a path by which any unauthenticated visitor could reliably force an error page on the log-in form.
- The share control uses a self-contained inline graphic, so no third-party host is contacted to draw the template's own chrome.
Notes for this release
- Envisage is a VirtueMart template and therefore ships on Joomla 5. Joomla 6 removes the backward-compatibility layer that VirtueMart still depends on, so a Joomla 6 build is not possible until VirtueMart itself moves.
- One VirtueMart module (Vendor) reports its version in Joomla's admin as an unreplaced placeholder. This comes from VirtueMart's own packaging and does not affect the module's operation.
With thanks to Zoltán, whose report led to the log-in form fix across our VirtueMart templates, and to Michael Mullan, whose Expression bug report led to this maintenance pass across our templates.
