    Version 6.2.0

Joomla 6.2.0. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 6.2.0 (Joomla 6.2.0 release notes), and the template version is now 6.2.0 to match.

Error pages. "Page not found" and "access denied" pages now show inside the template, with its header, menus and footer, and fit a phone screen.

Quickstart. A fresh install no longer lists stale update notices.

    Version 6.1.4.1

Quickstart fix. The Quickstart no longer fails to install on MySQL hosts with a "prepared statement protocol" error. Thanks to Iryna for reporting this. The template itself is unchanged apart from its version number.

    Version 6.1.4

Joomla 6.1.4. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 6.1.4, a security and bug-fix release (Joomla 6.1.4 release notes), and the template version is now 6.1.4 to match. There are no visual changes. Installing the template update does not update Joomla itself; update Joomla from System → Update → Joomla.

    Version 6.1.3.6

Fix. After the previous security update, print and email views, popup windows and the VirtueMart checkout step (pages served with tmpl=component) could return an error page. The template's component.php now defines the escaping helper it uses. There are no visual changes. Please update if you installed the previous version.

    Version 6.1.3.5

Security update. Module, menu and tab titles are now escaped wherever the template writes them into your pages (module headings, title attributes and the mega menu), so a title containing a quote or markup can no longer break out of its place in the page. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.

    September 28, 2026

    Version 6.1.3.4

Security update and colour fix. The site name and slogan are now escaped where the template writes them into image alt text. This release also restores colour settings (such as the cookie notice background and caption or menu backgrounds) that the previous update rendered as black. Recommended for all sites, especially those that installed the previous version.

    September 28, 2026

    Version 6.1.3.3

Security update. Every template setting that is written into your pages is now escaped for the place it lands in (HTML, attributes, CSS and JavaScript), so a setting value can no longer break out of its context. The error page now escapes its message and title too. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.

    Version 6.1.3.2

Fixed a problem where a large logo could fill the whole screen on phones. The stylesheet that keeps this template working with current Joomla was letting the header logo draw at its own full size on small screens instead of scaling it down to fit the space, so a logo wider than the phone screen — common, since logos are usually exported at 1500 pixels or more to stay sharp — pushed the header out and showed visitors a giant close-up of one or two letters instead of the site. Logos now scale down to fit on every screen size, and a logo already small enough to fit is displayed exactly as before. Update the template to pick this up; if you built your site from the Quick Start, a rebuilt one is on your downloads page.

    Version 6.1.3.1

A small appearance fix for the log-in page. Joomla 6's “Sign in with a passkey” button ships its icon as an inline graphic with no size set, and because this template pre-dates that style of icon it had nothing to size it against — so the icon expanded to fill the space, appearing as a large black shape across the log-in area. It now renders at normal icon size and takes the button's own colour.

This affects the log-in and registration screens only; nothing else in the template changed. Install the template package over the top — your settings carry over.

    Version 6.1.3

Logic 6.1.3 is a major rebuild — the first release of this template under Cybersalt, and the first that is Joomla 6 native. The design is deliberately unchanged: your layout, colours, fonts and menu choices all carry over. What changed is everything underneath, so that Logic runs cleanly on current Joomla instead of depending on code Joomla has been retiring since version 4.

If you are already running Logic, install the template package over the top — your template settings are preserved and no re-configuration is needed.

    Joomla 6 native

    • Logic now installs and runs on Joomla 6.1 without Joomla's backward-compatibility plugin. That plugin exists to keep very old extension code working, and Joomla 6 requires it to be switched off before it will allow the upgrade at all. Templates that still need it leave you stuck: turning it off breaks the site, leaving it on blocks the upgrade. Logic now uses current Joomla APIs throughout and is tested with that plugin disabled, so your path to Joomla 6 is clear.
    • The template version now matches the Joomla version it is built and tested against — this release is 6.1.3, built for Joomla 6.1.3.

Fixed: the Web Links pages returned an error

    • Any page listing Web Links failed with a server error. The site was carrying Web Links 3.0.0 — a Joomla 3-era component — which is not compatible with the PHP versions current Joomla requires, and which had no update path registered, so it would never have offered to update itself. It is now on the current 5.1.0 release and those pages load normally again.

Fixed: one of the module display styles produced a blank page

    • Assigning the collapsible module style to any module took the page down. The file behind that style had a fault that stopped it running at all, so instead of the module you got an empty white screen — and because it is chosen per module, the damage followed wherever you applied it. The style works normally again.

    Modern framework

    • Rebuilt on Bootstrap 5. Logic previously shipped Bootstrap 2, which Joomla dropped years ago. The grid, buttons, forms and drop-downs now use the framework Joomla itself loads — removing a large duplicate stylesheet from every page and stopping the two versions fighting over your layout.
    • Compatibility layer added for jQuery 3.7. Joomla 6 ships jQuery 3.7, which removed several functions templates of Logic's generation relied on (.live(), .load() as an event, and .offset() on the window). Logic now ships a small compatibility script that restores them. Without it the slideshow controls and parallax bands simply stop responding on Joomla 6 — the page looks right but nothing moves.
    • Legacy code removed — old jQuery plugin loaders, Internet-Explorer compatibility code and unused stylesheets. Pages carry less, and there are no console errors on a standard page load.
    • Login and other pop-ups rebuilt on Joomla's current modal, so they open as proper centred dialogs rather than dropping inline into the page.
    • The log-in dialog is visible again. Bootstrap 2 marked an open dialog with one class and Bootstrap 5 uses another, so on the mixed stack the dialog could open completely transparent — the page dimmed, keyboard focus moved into a box you could not see.
    • Tooltips and popovers no longer render as invisible empty boxes.

    The template Options screen

    • All 25 colour settings are now real colour pickers with a live preview, instead of plain text boxes that required typing a hex code by hand.
    • Every on/off setting is now a native Joomla switch instead of the old image-based toggle, so the Options screen matches the rest of your administrator and works on a phone or tablet.
    • The version now displays correctly. Extensions → Manage had been reporting a Joomla 2.5-era version for this template regardless of which build you had installed. It now shows the real release version and date.
    • Two headings that were meant to be uppercase now render that way, and help text spans the form instead of being squeezed into a narrow ribbon.

    Security hardening

    • Settings are now escaped before they are written into your page. Colours, sizes, image paths and text taken from the template's Options screen pass through dedicated escaping helpers — 106 places in the template's main file — instead of being printed raw as the original code did. These are administrator-only settings, so this is hardening rather than the closing of an exposed hole: it removes the class of problem where an unexpected character in a setting could break the page or put unintended markup into it.

    Header controls

    • The Register and Login Form buttons are the same height again. They had drifted to different sizes, so the pair looked misaligned in the top-right corner.
    • Social icons now sit dead-centre in their circles. They had been sitting slightly low and to the right within each round chip, and the chips themselves had lost 2px.
    • The show/hide password control renders as an eye on log-in and registration forms, rather than a small dot.

    Slideshow

    • The previous and next arrows can be reached on a touch screen. They had been shown only on mouse-hover, which never happens on a phone or tablet, so the slideshow could not be advanced by hand at all.
    • Slide images size correctly and fill the slideshow area instead of overflowing or leaving gaps at some screen widths.

    Phones and tablets

    • The menu button sits beside the logo and opens an accordion menu below the header, where opening one section closes the others, so long menus stay manageable.
    • A utility row puts account, register, search and social controls together as properly sized touch targets.
    • The account button now opens the log-in dialog. It had been going to the registration page — the same destination as the register button beside it — so there was no way to reach log-in from the utility row.
    • Stray marks beside the social icons removed. When the share control was opened, each icon had a small bullet graphic to its left, inherited from the template's general list styling.
    • The duplicate Register and Login Form text links no longer appear on phones. They sat above the logo and repeated what the utility row already offers, costing a row of screen height.
    • Sub-menus are no longer clipped when a menu is longer than the screen — they scroll instead of being cut off.
    • Account and registration fields fill the width of the screen rather than being squeezed into about a third of it, with the rest of each line left empty.
    • The footer menu links no longer disappear on a phone, and the “back to top” control is a proper circle rather than a stretched oval.
    • Dead space above the header removed, and the page can no longer be dragged sideways.

    Icons, fonts and menus

    • Font Awesome 6 replaces the Font Awesome 4 icon set, so social and interface icons render as sharp glyphs instead of blank squares or stray characters.
    • The social network set has been brought up to date — X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, Pinterest, Discord and RSS — replacing networks that no longer exist.
    • Google Fonts now load through a direct link in the page head rather than a JavaScript loader, so your fonts appear immediately instead of after a delay.
    • Drop-down menus no longer close before you can reach them. Moving the mouse from a heading down to its drop-down crossed a gap where neither was hovered, so the menu closed on the way. The whole path is now hoverable; spacing and appearance are unchanged.
    • Menu modules placed in a sidebar render as a proper vertical list again. Bootstrap 5 redefines the list style those menus use as a horizontal row, so a menu in a left or right column came out as a strip of wrapped, jumbled links that pushed the content below it down the page.
    • Pagination arrows render correctly on article lists and blog layouts — Joomla 4 and later emit an icon set the old stylesheet did not recognise, so they had been showing as empty squares.
    • Tall articles are no longer clipped to their title in the featured-article layout.

    Forms and search

    • The search box is a usable size. It had been a roughly 170-pixel panel with a field under 30 pixels tall — cramped on a desktop and unusable on a phone. On phones and tablets it is now a full-width panel directly under the header with a proper touch-sized field, and on a desktop it stays a drop-down under the magnifier but is wide enough to read what you are typing.
    • The mobile search button shows a magnifying glass. It had been rendering as a blank white square on a white background, so there was nothing to tell you it was the search button at all.
    • The search field sits square in its row on full-size screens instead of riding high with empty space beneath it, and the button beside it stays flush against the field rather than drifting away.
    • Search and text fields keep their proper height. Bootstrap 5 measures a field's box differently from Bootstrap 2, so fields sized by the original design lost their padding out of the declared height — the field shrank and the button beside it was cut off.
    • The site search now uses Joomla's Smart Search. Logic had been carrying Joomla 3's search component, removed from Joomla core years ago, which would have caused a fatal error the moment the backward-compatibility plugin was switched off. The search menu item keeps its label and position, so nothing changes visually.

    Housekeeping

    • Build artefacts and stray files that had been shipping inside the package have been removed.
    • The Quick Start now installs Joomla 6.1.3 and, unlike the older Akeeba-based quick starts, lets you create your own administrator account during installation instead of shipping a shared password.

With thanks to Michael Mullan, whose Expression bug report led to this maintenance pass across our templates.
