    Version 6.1.2.12

    • The mobile menu button sits beside the site name again. It had dropped onto a line of its own underneath the name, and sat against the left edge instead of the right.
    • The site slogan is visible again on phones. It was being placed past the right-hand edge of the screen, so on a narrow display it looked as though it had gone missing altogether.
    • Removed a large empty gap under the breadcrumb trail on phones. Roughly a screenful of blank space sat between the breadcrumbs and the first block of content below them.
    • Social icons are centred in their circles. In the footer each icon sat a few pixels below the middle of the circle behind it.
    • Headings and text no longer run into the edges of a phone screen. Module titles and article text now keep a small margin on the left and right, matching the body copy around them.

    Version 6.1.2.7

Quickstart maintenance release. This affects new quickstart installations only — if you already have Progressive running, there is nothing you need to do.

    • The quickstart installer no longer records a stale template version. A fresh install showed the previous version against Progressive in Extensions → Manage until the template was reinstalled.
    • Removed two leftover template styles ("nano" and "nexxy") that referred to templates not included in the package. After a quickstart install these appeared in System → Site Templates Styles pointing at templates that were not there.

    Version 6.1.2.11

    • Drop-down menus now sit directly beneath the menu they open from. They previously appeared a short distance below, and moving the mouse across that space closed the menu before you arrived. Sub-menus that open to the side are likewise flush against the column they come from.
    August 10, 2026

    Version 6.1.2.10

    • Drop-down menus now sit directly beneath the menu they open from. They previously appeared a short distance below, and moving the mouse across that space closed the menu before you arrived. Sub-menus that open to the side are likewise flush against the column they come from.
    August 10, 2026

    Version 6.1.2.9

    • Drop-down menus no longer close before you can reach them. On desktop, moving the mouse from a menu heading down to its drop-down crossed a gap where neither was hovered, so the menu closed on the way down. The whole path is now hoverable. The menu's spacing and appearance are unchanged.
    August 10, 2026

    Version 6.1.2.8

    • The site name and slogan are now real text instead of an image. They previously came from a small fixed-size picture, so they could not be resized, re-wrapped or read comfortably on a phone. Both are now ordinary text you can edit in the template settings, and they scale with the screen.
    • On a phone, the name and slogan sit together in a coloured bar. The bar uses the template's own accent colour, stops clear of the menu button instead of running underneath it, and the two lines are centred against each other.
    • On desktop, the slogan now appears on its own line beneath the site name rather than beside it.
    • The duplicate account links no longer appear above the logo on a phone. My Account and Register were shown twice; the icon row already provides both.
    • The slideshow's navigation dots are centred in their circles again.
    • Removed the empty space above and below the header on a phone, so the page content starts higher.
    • Added a little breathing room above the small utility menu at the top of the desktop layout, and aligned both of its menus to the same edge.
    • Corrected the bundled changelog file, which was missing the two most recent releases.
    August 10, 2026

    Version 6.1.2.6

Maintenance release. This update is recommended for all users — it removes JavaScript errors that could stop other features on the page from working, and improves the template's behaviour on phones.

    • Removed leftover calls to jQuery plugins that are no longer bundled. A call to a missing plugin stops every remaining script in the same block from running, so this can affect features that look unrelated.
    • Added a small compatibility layer for three jQuery methods that were removed before the version Joomla 6 ships, so slideshow controls and parallax backgrounds keep working.
    • Updated the Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet to the current build.
    • The log-in dialog now always opens fully visible. Previously it could open with the page dimmed behind it but the dialog itself invisible.
    • Pages no longer scroll sideways on a phone, and the mobile menu, search and social panels are now sized to the screen rather than to the full page width.

    Version 6.1.2.5

Maintenance release — layout and icon corrections shared across our template range. Several fixes were developed while working on our other templates over the past week. This release brings Progressive up to the same level. Nothing in the design changes and your settings are untouched.

    Fixed

    • Pages could scroll sideways slightly on a phone. Rows carried over from the older layout system were given spacing the original design never had, which pushed content a little wider than the screen and produced a small horizontal drag.
    • Uneven left and right margins on some pages. Full-width bands relied on a behaviour the newer layout framework changed, so content could sit closer to one edge than the other — most visible on interior pages rather than the home page.
    • Some small icons could be painted over by an old graphic. The original design pack drew its icons by cropping one large picture file, and a copy of that instruction survived in the stylesheet, laying the old blurry image on top of the modern icon underneath.
    • Multi-column module rows did not always collapse cleanly to full width on phones, leaving columns narrow and crowded instead of stacking.
    • Drop-down menu items could be cut off on phones where a sub-menu ran past the edge of the screen.
    • The fixed header could be painted underneath the slideshow on some screen sizes, making it appear to vanish.

    Note

    • These are corrections rather than changes — if your site looks right today, it will still look right after updating, with the rough edges above smoothed out. Ships in both the template package and the quickstart.

    Version 6.1.2.4

Maintenance release — one visible correction. This updates the show/hide button on password fields, which appears on the login, registration and password-reset forms. No other part of Progressive changes, and your settings are untouched.

    Fixed

    • The password show/hide button showed an eye looking off to one side. An earlier release corrected this control from an empty square to an eye, but the icon set we draw from has no version of that symbol with a centred pupil — so it was perfectly usable, yet visibly lopsided against the neat alignment of the form around it. It is now a purpose-drawn eye with the pupil dead centre, and being drawn rather than taken from a font it stays sharp at any size and on any screen.

    Note

    • Updating is optional if the off-centre eye does not bother you — nothing else in this release affects how your site works. It ships in both the template package and the quickstart.

    Version 6.1.2.3

Point release — button labels are now legible. Progressive drew its button text in white on the light green brand colour, which measured a contrast ratio of 1.88; the WCAG AA standard for normal text is 4.5. The green is completely unchanged — only the label colour moved, which brings the same buttons to 7.5.

    Fixed

    • White-on-pale-green button text. Read-more links, the expand and collapse toggles on category pages, the search button and the Advanced Search link all rendered their label in white on Progressive's light green. The label is now dark.
    • Buttons stayed washed out after being clicked. The pale appearance was also the button's focus state, so once you clicked a button it kept the faded look until you clicked elsewhere on the page.
    • The changelog included with the download was a release behind and did not list the 6.1.2.2 changes. It is now current.
    • An internal build report was being included in the download. A file our own tooling writes into the template folder was travelling into the installable package. It has been removed, and the packaging step now strips files of that kind automatically.

    Version 6.1.2.2

Point release ? repaired the 5 legacy Joomla 2.5 Bluestork admin-template image references that ship inside Joomla's stock sample-data category descriptions (Components / Modules / Templates / Languages / Plugins). Bluestork was removed from Joomla core in J3+, so on every J4/J5/J6 install those <img> tags 404 on any category-blog page that renders the Extensions category tree.

    Fixed

    • Sourced the 5 original 48?48 PNGs from the canonical Joomla 2.5.28 archive (component / module / templates / language / plugin icons).
    • Relocated them under the template's own images/legacy-bluestork/ folder so the reference travels with the template and survives future Joomla-core admin-template changes.
    • Rewrote the 5 sample-data _categories.description rows to point at the new template-local path.
    • Bridge CSS .row > .spanN twin: category-blog pages ship with a BS5 col-md-3 sidebar + a BS2 .span9 main-content column in the same .row. The mixed grid caused the main column to wrap BELOW the sidebar at desktop. Bridge now handles both .row-fluid > .spanN and .row > .spanN in the same rule set.

    Notes

    • No breaking changes. Existing customer overrides untouched.
    • Fix confirmed by rendering the Extensions category-blog page on the demo ? all 5 icons now paint at the correct locations; two-column layout side-by-side.

    Version 6.1.2.1

    • Fixed - the password show/hide button on the login and registration forms was an empty square. Joomla's own icon names are now mapped onto the template's icon font (around thirty icons Joomla uses in front-end views).
    • Fixed - the Previous, Next, First and Last pagination buttons were completely blank on category lists and search results.
    • Fixed - featured and blog articles could be clipped to just their title in a single-column layout.
    • Removed - three unused Joomla 2.5-era templates (atomic, beez_20, beez5) that were being shipped inside the quickstart - 311 files in total.

    Version 6.1.2

Major release ? Progressive is now genuinely Joomla 6 native. This is the largest update Progressive has had. The template has been rebuilt from Bootstrap 2 onto Bootstrap 5, every Joomla 3-era programming call has been replaced with its modern Joomla 6 equivalent, and the phone experience has been rebuilt from the ground up. The quickstart ships Joomla 6.1.2. Everything below ships in both the standalone package and the quickstart.

With thanks to Zolt?n, whose report led to the login-form fix listed under Fixed.

    Added

    • Joomla 6 native foundation ? rebuilt on Bootstrap 5 with a compatibility layer that preserves Progressive's original design, including its distinctive near-gutterless gallery grid. Progressive no longer depends on Joomla's backwards-compatibility plugin.
    • A proper phone header. Previously the phone view showed the donor's raw layout ? two rows of text links stacked above the logo, with the menu button stranded on its own row and no icon cluster. It is now a single tidy icon row: menu, account, register and search.
    • Search on phones ? a magnifier in the icon row opens a full-width search panel with a large field that focuses automatically.
    • A Submit button on the search box, on both desktop and phones. Previously the only way to run a search was to press Enter ? awkward on a phone, and not obvious on a laptop trackpad.
    • An accordion mobile menu built from the real nested menu, replacing the flattened one-level list the donor produced.
    • Tappable slideshow arrows on phones. The previous arrows only appeared on mouse hover, which never happens on a touch screen, so there was no indication the slideshow could be advanced at all.
    • Font Awesome 6.5.2 with version-4 shims, replacing the Font Awesome 4 delivery network that has shut down.
    • Modern social networks with X rebranding, rendered as icon-only circles matching the original footer design.
    • Package-based distribution ? registers with Joomla's Update Manager so future releases appear under System ? Update ? Extensions.

    Changed

    • The site name and tagline now sit fully within the blue header band, with the green bar as a clean strip beneath. Previously the tagline straddled the boundary, half on blue and half on green.
    • The main menu button is now white rather than grey ? grey on blue was very hard to read ? inset from the edge, vertically centred, with wider bars.
    • All template settings switches converted to Joomla's native switch control.
    • Google Fonts now load through a direct stylesheet link, replacing the old JavaScript loader.
    • Page and article titles on phones are inset from the screen edge, while images remain full width.
    • The secondary menu bar opens at a comfortable height with its links vertically centred.
    • Promotional modules no longer appear on the registration page, where they pushed the form far down the screen.
    • Footer copyright year rolled forward to the current year.
    • Quickstart ships a clean install ? view counts zeroed, setup-nag messages cleared, and leftover unused templates removed.

    Fixed

    • The Register button was white text on a near-white background and effectively unreadable. A legacy button style was painting a pale gradient over the button's own green. The same fault affected both "Show Password" buttons.
    • Login and registration forms failed on Joomla 5 and later with a behavior::formvalidation not found error, from a Joomla 3 validation call removed from Joomla core. (Reported by Zolt?n ? fixed across the whole template range.)
    • The footer bottom bar had been rendering full-width since the Bootstrap 5 rebuild, pushing the social block onto its own row ? caused by a grid rule that never matched Progressive's custom markup.
    • A JavaScript error on every page load, from a jQuery Mobile plugin incompatible with current jQuery.
    • The logo column collapsed and pushed the menu beneath the logo.
    • The slideshow arrows were oversized and their chevrons off-centre in both directions.
    • The search button sat flush against the search box frame rather than inset.
    • The registration form ran to both screen edges on phones.
    • An empty white band above the page content on interior pages.
    • Login form fields now declare autocomplete, so browsers and password managers fill them correctly.
    • The component view was still a Joomla 2.5-era page ? old doctype, jQuery 1.8.1, and a stylesheet that no longer existed.

    Removed

    • Internet Explorer conditional blocks and related workarounds.
    • Bootstrap 2 framework files.
    • Retired JavaScript libraries, including backstretch and jQuery Mobile.

    Security

    • Output escaping applied throughout the template.
    • Direct-access guards confirmed on every template entry point.
    • External links now carry rel="noopener".

    Known limitations

    • The slideshow still uses the camera.js library; migration to a modern slideshow is scheduled for a later release.
    • The favicon suite (Skill 36) has not yet been applied.
