Progressive Changelog

Login form. The username box was narrower than the password field beside it; every field now takes the full row.

Phone header. The phone menu script is updated to the current version: opening a phone panel no longer dims the logo and menu buttons, and tapping outside an open panel closes it.

Phone spacing. On phones the account pages, the error page and page headings started 29px in (two paddings stacked) and the text in the band above the footer ran 6px from the screen edge; all now sit at the 20px phone inset.

Footer positions. The template tested its two footer positions with a Joomla 3 expression that Joomla 4 and later read as a single position name, so the test always failed; it now checks each position.

Print view on phones. The print view had no mobile viewport, so on a phone it showed a shrunken desktop page; it now fits the screen.

Error page. An error caused by a missing item no longer prints the server's file paths.

Defaults for a fresh install. The site name / logo now links to the home page and the slideshow is switched on with autoplay (logoLinked, cam_turnOn, cam_autoAdvance, cam_mobileAutoAdvance default to on). Existing sites keep their saved settings.

Quickstart. The search box returned No Results for everything (the search index was empty); it is built. The sample Atomic, Beez 20 and Beez 5 category pages showed broken thumbnails of Joomla 3 templates; the broken images are removed. The FIND OUT MORE buttons on two slides pointed at a page that does not exist (404); they open the Image Gallery.

Shared stylesheet. The template's Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet is updated to the current version used across our templates. Your own template settings are not changed.

Removed. 4 JavaScript and CSS files nothing loads (24 KB); Joomla 3 MooTools code for collapsible modules that nothing uses (html/modules.php); hover colours for social networks the template does not offer (Google+, MySpace, StumbleUpon, Digg, Blogger); 9 template options nothing read (old drop-down menu effect settings and three top-menu colour options the menu no longer uses - its hover look comes from the active-link colours); template code that read settings the template never offered; a reference to a module style the template does not have (login pop-up); stylesheet references to images that do not exist, and links to stylesheets that do not exist.

Login fields on phones. The username and password fields were smaller than 16px on phones, so an iPhone zoomed the page in when one was tapped and did not zoom back out. Login, registration, profile and password-reset fields are now 16px on phones.

Template Options screen. The icons on the template's Options screen came from Font Awesome 4.6.3 on MaxCDN, which no longer serves it, so they were missing. They now load Font Awesome 6.5.2 with its version 4 name shims from cdnjs.

Security. The template's menu layouts printed a menu item's note and link exactly as entered, so markup typed into a menu item's Note or Link field reached the page. Both are now escaped, as Joomla's own menu layouts do.

Colours with transparency. A colour chosen with the colour picker's opacity slider (saved as an 8-digit colour such as #rrggbbaa) was replaced with black. Colours with transparency are now used as chosen.

Page language. The page had no opening <html> tag, so browsers, screen readers and search engines were not told the page's language or text direction. It now declares both from the site's language settings.

Joomla 6.2.0. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 6.2.0 (Joomla 6.2.0 release notes), and the template version is now 6.2.0 to match.

Error pages. "Page not found" and "access denied" pages now show inside the template, with its header, menus and footer, and fit a phone screen.

Phones. Article text no longer touches the screen edge.

Quickstart. A fresh install no longer lists stale update notices.

Quickstart fix. The Quickstart no longer fails to install on MySQL hosts with a "prepared statement protocol" error. Thanks to Iryna for reporting this. The template itself is unchanged apart from its version number.

Quickstart. Removed leftover files from the quickstart's top folder.

Joomla 6.1.4. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 6.1.4, a security and bug-fix release (Joomla 6.1.4 release notes), and the template version is now 6.1.4 to match. There are no visual changes. Installing the template update does not update Joomla itself; update Joomla from System → Update → Joomla.

Quickstart. Leftover VirtueMart shop tables and menu links are no longer installed.

Fix. After the previous security update, print and email views, popup windows and the VirtueMart checkout step (pages served with tmpl=component) could return an error page. The template's component.php now defines the escaping helper it uses. There are no visual changes. Please update if you installed the previous version.

Security update. Module, menu and tab titles are now escaped wherever the template writes them into your pages (module headings, title attributes and the mega menu), so a title containing a quote or markup can no longer break out of its place in the page. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.

Fixed a problem where a large logo could fill the whole screen on phones. The stylesheet that keeps this template working with current Joomla was letting the header logo draw at its own full size on small screens instead of scaling it down to fit the space, so a logo wider than the phone screen — common, since logos are usually exported at 1500 pixels or more to stay sharp — pushed the header out and showed visitors a giant close-up of one or two letters instead of the site. Logos now scale down to fit on every screen size, and a logo already small enough to fit is displayed exactly as before. Update the template to pick this up; if you built your site from the Quick Start, a rebuilt one is on your downloads page.

Maintenance release.

• Updated the Bootstrap 2→5 compatibility stylesheet to the current version, bringing this template in line with the rest of the range.

Both the template package and the Quick Start have been rebuilt for this release. Download the latest from your member area.

Progressive 6.1.3.1 is a corrective maintenance release and we recommend updating. The 6.1.3 package released on 18 August was built from a stale copy of the shared Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet and the previous mobile-header script, so a group of fixes that 6.1.3's own notes described as included did not actually reach the package. This release ships them. Your settings, colours and menu choices carry over, and there is nothing to reconfigure after updating.

If you downloaded 6.1.3

• Please update. The 6.1.3 package carried the shared compatibility stylesheet as it stood on 11 August, not as it stood on release day, and it carried the older mobile-header script. On a phone that means the header chrome, the utility icons and several page bands behave as they did before those fixes were made. Everything listed below is the difference between the two builds.

Fixed — log-in and account pages

• The passkey button on the log-in page no longer paints a large black shape across the form. Joomla 6's WebAuthn plugin draws its passkey icon as an inline graphic with no size of its own, and this template — like every template of its generation — had no rule to size one, so it expanded to fill the button. Measured on sibling templates at up to 276×276 pixels of solid black over the log-in area. Inline icons of that kind are now capped and take the button's own colour.
• The close button on the log-in pop-up is a proper close control again. It had been rendering as a solid brand-coloured block sitting on top of the "Login Form" title, because the Bootstrap 5 close-button markup relies on a stylesheet these templates do not ship. It now draws a visible × glyph.
• The two dismiss controls in the log-in pop-up are now real buttons with an accessible label rather than links, so keyboard and screen-reader users can reach them.
• Account and registration fields fill the width of a phone screen. They had been sized for a desktop two-column layout that no longer applies once the form stacks, leaving several fields about a third of the screen wide with empty space beside them. Field heights were also raised to a comfortable touch size.

Fixed — the mobile header

• The utility icons were invisible. The account, search and social buttons were drawing white icons on a white background — a contrast ratio of 1.00:1, measured on this template, which is not "hard to read" but literally nothing painted. The buttons were there and the right size; they showed no icon at all. Icon colour is now derived from each button's own background, so plain buttons take dark ink and accented ones take whichever of black or white reads against the accent.
• The "+" expander in the slide-out menu was nearly unreadable — measured at 1.88:1 on this template's green accent, because the template's own button styling was repainting both the chip and its glyph. It now carries its own colour.
• A large empty white band beneath the breadcrumb bar is gone. Measured at 100 pixels of nothing on a 375-pixel-wide screen. The template reserves space under the breadcrumb row for a search box that the mobile header now presents as an icon instead, so the reservation was being paid for nothing.
• The hamburger button sits on the same line as the logo. It was positioned independently of the logo row and could hang below the branded bar rather than in it.
• The primary hamburger is the same size as the utility buttons beside it (44 pixels rather than 56), and the utility row is evenly spaced — the buttons had been using two spacing mechanisms at once, giving uneven gaps and clipping the first and last buttons at the screen edges.
• The social flyout tab pinned to the right edge of the page no longer leaves a dead "Follow Us" bar across the foot of the page on phones. It opens on hover, which a touch screen cannot do, and its links are already available from the social icon in the header.
• Breadcrumbs flow as a single line on a phone instead of taking one line per crumb.

Fixed — page layout

• Page content no longer overlaps the breadcrumb on pages with no top modules. On the Registration Form route at desktop width the whole component output was being pulled 76 pixels upwards, printing the "You are here:" trail on top of the "User Registration" heading — measured as an 81×15-pixel text-on-text overlap. The rule responsible had been written for a phone measurement but carried no width limit, so it fired at every width where it had nothing to counterbalance. It has been removed and the phone case it was written for is now handled correctly at source.
• Article details no longer run off the side of the page. The "Written by / Category / Published / Last Updated / Hits" block was set to a single non-wrapping line, so on a phone its items simply ran past the edge of the screen — measured on a sibling template as 73 pixels outside the viewport, and the sole cause of that page's sideways scrolling. It now wraps.
• The page no longer scrolls sideways at tablet widths. The desktop drop-down panels were parked out of sight vertically but not horizontally, so panels nobody could see were still widening the document. The page was horizontally scrollable while nothing visible overflowed, which is why it survived every visual review.
• The breadcrumb bar no longer overflows on interior and account pages: a layout row was resolving to zero width, leaving the breadcrumb links with nothing to wrap inside.
• The top-right links bar (FAQ / Help / Support) is vertically centred in its own bar — measured 7.2 pixels high on this template. The account, search and cart controls beside it now share one size, one icon size and one midline instead of five independent ones.
• Header search fields keep their full height again. Bootstrap 5 measures boxes differently from Bootstrap 2, so fields sized in the older style lost their padding out of their declared height and collapsed, taking the row and its submit button with them.
• Slideshow arrows remain visible on touch screens instead of only appearing on hover, and are drawn at a comfortable tap size.
• Where the slideshow runs as a fade, its slides no longer sit in a band of empty space caused by a class-name collision between the new slideshow engine and the caption styling inherited from the old one.

Changed

• The Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet is now the current shared build (internally 2026-08-19.74, up from 2026-08-11.38). Thirty further fix groups have been added to it since the previous package.
• The compatibility stylesheet is now loaded after every other template stylesheet. It had been emitted earlier in the page, so any of its fixes that were not forced simply lost to the template's own styling. This is why a number of fixes that were present in the file were not visible on the page.
• This template now uses the shared mobile-header script. It previously carried its own copy, which meant it did not inherit fixes made for the rest of the range.
• Over two thousand lines of template-specific stylesheet were removed (2,076 lines net; this template's own additions to the shared stylesheet fall from 2,463 lines to 387). They had accumulated across roughly seven stacked generations of mobile-header styling, each layered over the last. Every one of them is now provided by the shared stylesheet; nothing was lost, and the file is substantially easier to support.

Removed

• A stray archive file (blog_item.zip) that had been shipping inside the template package is no longer included.

Known behaviour, unchanged

• The site slogan sits beside the logo rather than under it at the widest screen sizes. This is the template's shipped default positioning, not a fault introduced here — it was confirmed by disabling the compatibility stylesheet entirely, with the slogan still beside the logo. It can be changed from the template's own H2 position settings.

Progressive 6.1.3 is a maintenance release. It renumbers the template to match the Joomla version it is built and tested against, refreshes the Quick Start onto the current Joomla release, corrects two defects in the Quick Start's own database, and brings the Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet up to the current shared build. There are no changes you need to make after updating — your settings, colours and menu choices carry over.

Version numbering

• The template version now matches the Joomla version it ships against. Progressive 6.1.3 is the build for Joomla 6.1.3. The previous release of this template was numbered 6.1.2.12. This is a numbering change only — Joomla still treats 6.1.3 as newer than 6.1.2.12, so the update comparison in your Extensions Manager behaves normally, and nothing about how you install or update the template changes. We are applying the same convention across the whole template range so that the number on the download tells you at a glance which Joomla release it was tested against.

Quick Start — two corrections

• The Quick Start package now installs Joomla 6.1.3. The previous Quick Start bundled Joomla 6.1.2. If you are building a new site from the Quick Start you now get the current Joomla release straight away, instead of installing and then immediately having to run a core update.
• Fixed: a fresh Quick Start install reported the wrong template version. The version recorded in the Quick Start's database had not been kept in step with the template files. A site built from the previous Quick Start showed Progressive as 6.1.2.7 in Extensions Manager even though the files it installed were 6.1.2.12. The template itself was always correct; only the recorded version was stale, and it could make Joomla's update check behave oddly. Both are now written from a single source and verified inside the finished package before it ships.
• Fixed: two dead template styles were shipped in the Quick Start. A fresh install left entries named "nano" and "nexxy" sitting in System → Site Template Styles. Neither template is part of this package, so both pointed at nothing. They were left over from the demo site the Quick Start is built from. Both have been removed at source; no menu item referenced either of them, so nothing that was working stops working.
• The Quick Start is a standard Joomla installation package — upload it, extract it, and run the normal Joomla installer in your browser. Akeeba Kickstart is not needed.

Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet

• Brought up to the current shared build, adding nineteen further layout guards since 6.1.2.12. These were found and fixed on other templates in our range during August, and are included here as a preventative update so that Progressive is protected against the same classes of problem rather than waiting for one of them to surface on your site. The areas covered are: drop-down and parked sub-menu behaviour and flow; mobile header layout, ordering, logo placement and spacing; the mobile search and cart controls; slideshow controls on touch screens, which are revealed on hover and so were unreachable by tap; slide images that did not cover their frame; social icon rendering where a template's own image sprite competed with the Font Awesome 6 glyphs that replaced it; tooltips and popovers becoming visible on the page before they were triggered; page bands that pin themselves to a fixed desktop width and so scroll sideways on a phone; fixed-top header offsets; grid children that lost their block display; and standalone column grids.
• No guard was removed. The compatibility stylesheet moved from canonical revision 2026-08-11.11 to 2026-08-11.38.

What is not in this release

• No template file other than the Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet changed between 6.1.2.12 and 6.1.3. Everything shipped in the 6.1.2.x line — the Joomla 6 native rebuild, the removal of the orphaned jQuery plug-in calls that were throwing an uncaught JavaScript error on every page load, the cs-jq-compat.js shim that keeps the slideshow and parallax bands working under Joomla 6's jQuery 3.7, the log-in dialog that now opens fully visible, the desktop search row spacing correction, the mobile overflow and drawer fixes, and the relocated legacy Bluestork category images — is carried forward unchanged in this package.
• Known limitation, unchanged and disclosed: Progressive's slideshow still uses camera.js rather than Swiper, so the template still loads jQuery and a number of carried-forward jQuery plug-ins. These are dependencies the template genuinely uses, not dead code, and replacing them is a larger piece of work than a maintenance release should carry.

With thanks to Michael Mullan, whose Expression bug report led to the maintenance pass across our templates that several of these compatibility-stylesheet guards came out of.

• The mobile menu button sits beside the site name again. It had dropped onto a line of its own underneath the name, and sat against the left edge instead of the right.
• The site slogan is visible again on phones. It was being placed past the right-hand edge of the screen, so on a narrow display it looked as though it had gone missing altogether.
• Removed a large empty gap under the breadcrumb trail on phones. Roughly a screenful of blank space sat between the breadcrumbs and the first block of content below them.
• Social icons are centred in their circles. In the footer each icon sat a few pixels below the middle of the circle behind it.
• Headings and text no longer run into the edges of a phone screen. Module titles and article text now keep a small margin on the left and right, matching the body copy around them.

Quickstart maintenance release. This affects new quickstart installations only — if you already have Progressive running, there is nothing you need to do.

• The quickstart installer no longer records a stale template version. A fresh install showed the previous version against Progressive in Extensions → Manage until the template was reinstalled.
• Removed two leftover template styles ("nano" and "nexxy") that referred to templates not included in the package. After a quickstart install these appeared in System → Site Templates Styles pointing at templates that were not there.

• Drop-down menus now sit directly beneath the menu they open from. They previously appeared a short distance below, and moving the mouse across that space closed the menu before you arrived. Sub-menus that open to the side are likewise flush against the column they come from.

• Drop-down menus no longer close before you can reach them. On desktop, moving the mouse from a menu heading down to its drop-down crossed a gap where neither was hovered, so the menu closed on the way down. The whole path is now hoverable. The menu's spacing and appearance are unchanged.

• The site name and slogan are now real text instead of an image. They previously came from a small fixed-size picture, so they could not be resized, re-wrapped or read comfortably on a phone. Both are now ordinary text you can edit in the template settings, and they scale with the screen.
• On a phone, the name and slogan sit together in a coloured bar. The bar uses the template's own accent colour, stops clear of the menu button instead of running underneath it, and the two lines are centred against each other.
• On desktop, the slogan now appears on its own line beneath the site name rather than beside it.
• The duplicate account links no longer appear above the logo on a phone. My Account and Register were shown twice; the icon row already provides both.
• The slideshow's navigation dots are centred in their circles again.
• Removed the empty space above and below the header on a phone, so the page content starts higher.
• Added a little breathing room above the small utility menu at the top of the desktop layout, and aligned both of its menus to the same edge.
• Corrected the bundled changelog file, which was missing the two most recent releases.

Maintenance release. This update is recommended for all users — it removes JavaScript errors that could stop other features on the page from working, and improves the template's behaviour on phones.

• Removed leftover calls to jQuery plugins that are no longer bundled. A call to a missing plugin stops every remaining script in the same block from running, so this can affect features that look unrelated.
• Added a small compatibility layer for three jQuery methods that were removed before the version Joomla 6 ships, so slideshow controls and parallax backgrounds keep working.
• Updated the Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet to the current build.
• The log-in dialog now always opens fully visible. Previously it could open with the page dimmed behind it but the dialog itself invisible.
• Pages no longer scroll sideways on a phone, and the mobile menu, search and social panels are now sized to the screen rather than to the full page width.

• Fixed - the password show/hide button on the login and registration forms was an empty square. Joomla's own icon names are now mapped onto the template's icon font (around thirty icons Joomla uses in front-end views).
• Fixed - the Previous, Next, First and Last pagination buttons were completely blank on category lists and search results.
