    Version 6.2.0.1

Phones. The menu can be opened again: the header shows a row of icons for the menu, your account, registration and search, and the menu slides in from the side.

Phones. Menus close when you tap outside them, and the menu arrows and close button sit in the middle of their circles.

Header. The logo and menu show again on desktop (a white header background was hiding them).

Phones. The page uses the full screen width.

    October 14, 2026

    Version 6.2.0

Joomla 6.2.0. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 6.2.0 (Joomla 6.2.0 release notes), and the template version is now 6.2.0 to match.

Error pages. "Page not found" and "access denied" pages now show inside the template, with its header, menus and footer, and fit a phone screen.

Account pages. The password reset, login and username reminder forms show again when they have no menu item of their own (the home page layout was hiding them).

Phones. The footer link lists show again.

Quickstart. A fresh install no longer lists stale update notices.

    October 2, 2026

    Version 6.1.4.1

Quickstart fix. The Quickstart no longer fails to install on MySQL hosts with a "prepared statement protocol" error. Thanks to Iryna for reporting this. The template itself is unchanged apart from its version number.

    September 30, 2026

    Version 6.1.4

Joomla 6.1.4. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 6.1.4, a security and bug-fix release (Joomla 6.1.4 release notes), and the template version is now 6.1.4 to match. There are no visual changes. Installing the template update does not update Joomla itself; update Joomla from System → Update → Joomla.

Quickstart. Leftover VirtueMart shop tables and menu links are no longer installed. The "Register" button opens Joomla's registration page.

    September 30, 2026

    Version 6.1.3.6

Fix. After the previous security update, print and email views, popup windows and the VirtueMart checkout step (pages served with tmpl=component) could return an error page. The template's component.php now defines the escaping helper it uses. There are no visual changes. Please update if you installed the previous version.

    September 29, 2026

    Version 6.1.3.5

Joomla 6 fix. Menus that contain an external link, a separator or a menu alias no longer cause an error page on Joomla 6. The template's menu overrides now read menu item settings the Joomla 6 way. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all Joomla 6 sites.

    September 28, 2026

    Version 6.1.3.4

Security update. Module, menu and tab titles are now escaped wherever the template writes them into your pages (module headings, title attributes and the mega menu), so a title containing a quote or markup can no longer break out of its place in the page. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.

    September 28, 2026

    Version 6.1.3.3

Security update. Every template setting that is written into your pages is now escaped for the place it lands in (HTML, attributes, CSS and JavaScript), so a setting value can no longer break out of its context. The error page now escapes its message and title too. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.

    September 10, 2026

    Version 6.1.3.2

Fixed a problem where a large logo could fill the whole screen on phones. The stylesheet that keeps this template working with current Joomla was letting the header logo draw at its own full size on small screens instead of scaling it down to fit the space, so a logo wider than the phone screen — common, since logos are usually exported at 1500 pixels or more to stay sharp — pushed the header out and showed visitors a giant close-up of one or two letters instead of the site. Logos now scale down to fit on every screen size, and a logo already small enough to fit is displayed exactly as before. Update the template to pick this up; if you built your site from the Quick Start, a rebuilt one is on your downloads page.

    September 7, 2026

    Version 6.1.3.1

Fixed the built-in homepage slideshow collapsing to a thin strip. This was a template CSS issue in the modernized Swiper slideshow — the slide area lost its height, so the images no longer filled it. Updating to this version restores the slideshow to its full height.

    Version 6.1.3

Trento 6.1.3 is a maintenance release. It renumbers the template to match the Joomla version it is built and tested against, refreshes the Quick Start onto the current Joomla release, and brings the Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet up to the current shared build. There are no changes you need to make after updating — your settings, colours and menu choices carry over.

    Version numbering

    • The template version now matches the Joomla version it ships against. Trento 6.1.3 is the build for Joomla 6.1.3. The previous release of this template was numbered 6.1.2.6. This is a numbering change only — Joomla still treats 6.1.3 as newer than 6.1.2.6, so the update comparison in your Extensions Manager behaves normally, and nothing about how you install or update the template changes. We are applying the same convention across the whole template range so that the number on the download tells you at a glance which Joomla release it was tested against.

    Quick Start

    • The Quick Start package now installs Joomla 6.1.3. The previous Quick Start bundled Joomla 6.1.2. If you are building a new site from the Quick Start you now get the current Joomla release straight away, instead of installing and then immediately having to run a core update.
    • The Quick Start is a standard Joomla installation package — upload it, extract it, and run the normal Joomla installer in your browser. Akeeba Kickstart is not needed.

Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet

    • Brought up to the current shared build, adding twenty-five further layout guards since 6.1.2.6. These were found and fixed on other templates in our range during August, and are included here as a preventative update so that Trento is protected against the same classes of problem rather than waiting for one of them to surface on your site. The areas covered are: drop-down menu behaviour and flow; mobile header layout, ordering and spacing; slideshow controls on touch screens, which are revealed on hover and so were unreachable by tap; social icon rendering where a template's own image sprite competed with the Font Awesome 6 glyphs that replaced it; tooltips and popovers becoming visible on the page before they were triggered; page bands that pin themselves to a fixed desktop width and so scroll sideways on a phone; grid children that lost their block display; and full-height column panels that clipped the content they were meant to wrap.

What is not in this release

    • No template file other than the Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet changed between 6.1.2.6 and 6.1.3. Everything shipped in the 6.1.2.x line — the Joomla 6 native rebuild, the drop-down menus that no longer draw themselves open before you hover them and that now sit flush beneath the item they open from, the login pop-up Register button that used to lead to a 404, and the removal of the two leftover hidden VirtueMart menu aliases — is carried forward unchanged in this package.
    • Known limitation, unchanged and disclosed: the template still loads jQuery and a number of carried-forward jQuery plug-ins. These are dependencies the template genuinely uses, not dead code, and removing them is a larger piece of work than a maintenance release should carry.

With thanks to Michael Mullan, whose Expression bug report led to the maintenance pass across our templates that several of these compatibility-stylesheet guards came out of.

    August 10, 2026

    Version 6.1.2.6

    • Drop-down menus no longer appear open before you hover them. On some templates every sub-menu was drawn on the page from the moment it loaded. They are hidden again until you move the mouse over the menu.
    • Drop-downs sit directly beneath the menu they open from. They previously appeared a short distance below, and moving the mouse across that space closed the menu before you arrived. Sub-menus that open to the side are likewise flush against the column they come from.
    August 10, 2026

    Version 6.1.2.5

    • Drop-down menus now sit directly beneath the menu they open from. They previously appeared a short distance below, and moving the mouse across that space closed the menu before you arrived. Sub-menus that open to the side are likewise flush against the column they come from.
    August 7, 2026

    Version 6.1.2.4

    Maintenance release.

    • Fixed: the Register button in the login pop-up pointed at a VirtueMart account page this template does not ship, producing a 404 — it now opens the standard Joomla registration form. The two hidden VirtueMart menu aliases left over from the original donor were removed as well. (Same defect class fixed in Xeno 6.1.2.1 the same evening.)
    August 7, 2026

    Version 6.1.2.3

Maintenance release — layout and icon corrections shared across our template range. Several fixes were developed while working on our other templates over the past week. This release brings Trento up to the same level. Nothing in the design changes and your settings are untouched.

    Fixed

    • Pages could scroll sideways slightly on a phone. Rows carried over from the older layout system were given spacing the original design never had, which pushed content a little wider than the screen and produced a small horizontal drag.
    • Uneven left and right margins on some pages. Full-width bands relied on a behaviour the newer layout framework changed, so content could sit closer to one edge than the other — most visible on interior pages rather than the home page.
    • Some small icons could be painted over by an old graphic. The original design pack drew its icons by cropping one large picture file, and a copy of that instruction survived in the stylesheet, laying the old blurry image on top of the modern icon underneath.
    • Multi-column module rows did not always collapse cleanly to full width on phones, leaving columns narrow and crowded instead of stacking.
    • Drop-down menu items could be cut off on phones where a sub-menu ran past the edge of the screen.
    • The fixed header could be painted underneath the slideshow on some screen sizes, making it appear to vanish.

    Note

    • These are corrections rather than changes — if your site looks right today, it will still look right after updating, with the rough edges above smoothed out. Ships in both the template package and the quickstart.
    August 6, 2026

    Version 6.1.2.2

Maintenance release — one visible correction. This updates the show/hide button on password fields, which appears on the login, registration and password-reset forms. No other part of Trento changes, and your settings are untouched.

    Fixed

    • The password show/hide button showed an eye looking off to one side. An earlier release corrected this control from an empty square to an eye, but the icon set we draw from has no version of that symbol with a centred pupil — so it was perfectly usable, yet visibly lopsided against the neat alignment of the form around it. It is now a purpose-drawn eye with the pupil dead centre, and being drawn rather than taken from a font it stays sharp at any size and on any screen.

    Note

    • Updating is optional if the off-centre eye does not bother you — nothing else in this release affects how your site works. It ships in both the template package and the quickstart.
    July 31, 2026

    Version 6.1.2.1

    • Fixed - the password show/hide button on the login and registration forms was an empty square. Joomla's own icon names are now mapped onto the template's icon font (around thirty icons Joomla uses in front-end views).
    • Fixed - the Previous, Next, First and Last pagination buttons were completely blank on category lists and search results.
    • Fixed - featured and blog articles could be clipped to just their title in a single-column layout.
    • Fixed - the Search menu item led to a "Component not found" error page; it now opens Smart Search.

    Version 6.1.2

Maintenance release ? version alignment and a Joomla 6 upgrade correction.

    Fixed

    • Leftover Joomla 5 items in the administrator's "Take a Tour" menu appeared as raw internal labels such as COM_GUIDEDTOURS_TOUR_WHATSNEW_5_2_TITLE instead of readable names. The Joomla 6 upgrade had left the old Joomla 5 tour records in place while removing the text that named them, and the two current Joomla 6 tours had never been added. Corrected.

    Changed

    • Version renumbered to 6.1.2 so the template version matches the Joomla version it is certified against. Template-only fixes from here will use a fourth number (6.1.2.1, 6.1.2.2, and so on).

Major release ? Trento is now genuinely Joomla 6 native. Rebuilt on Bootstrap 5, with every Joomla 3-era API call replaced by its modern Joomla 6 equivalent. The quickstart ships Joomla 6.1.2. A number of long-standing faults were found and fixed along the way, including a slideshow and a parallax effect that had quietly stopped working.

    Version 6.1.0

Major release — Trento is now genuinely Joomla 6 native: rebuilt on Bootstrap 5, with every Joomla 3-era API call in the template replaced by its modern Joomla 6 equivalent. The quickstart ships Joomla 6.1.2. A number of long-standing faults were found and fixed along the way, including a slideshow and a parallax effect that had quietly stopped working on modern jQuery. With thanks to Michael Mullan, whose Expression bug report led to this maintenance pass across our templates.

    Joomla 6 native

    • The template no longer depends on Joomla's backward-compatibility plugin. Trento previously called around 100 Joomla 3-era functions (JFactory, JText, JURI, JRoute, JHtml, JModuleHelper and others). Those names only resolve while the Behaviour – Backward Compatibility plugin's legacy class-alias option is switched on — and in Joomla 6 that option is off by default. Every one of them has been replaced with the modern namespaced equivalent, so the template runs correctly on a default Joomla 6 site. Verified by loading the whole site with that compatibility option disabled.
    • Removed calls to functions Joomla deleted outright. JError (removed in Joomla 4) is gone from the error page, and the obsolete jimport() loader calls have been dropped — Joomla autoloads these classes now.
    • Fixed two module-count calls that were written as static calls to a non-static method — a pattern that raises a fatal error on PHP 8. They now use the same form as the other 272 module checks in the template.
    • Manifest declares Joomla 6.1 as the target platform, so the installer will not offer it to incompatible sites.
    • Added the _JEXEC security guard, which the template previously shipped without.

    Added

    • Favicon tab with a built-in crop tool. Choose any image in the template options, crop it square in the browser, and Trento generates the full device icon set for you — a real favicon.ico (16/32/48) published at your site root, plus 32/192/512 PNGs and a 180px Apple touch icon. Every file is cache-busted so browsers pick up your new icon instead of clinging to the old one. No FTP required.
    • Modern social icon set (13 networks). X, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Vimeo, Pinterest, Discord and RSS, drawn as Font Awesome 6 brand icons, with rel="noopener" and screen-reader labels.
    • A working mobile main menu. The main menu could not be opened on a phone at all in previous releases. There are now two controls: a large hamburger at the top right for the main menu, and a smaller one in the icon row for the secondary menu.

    Changed

    • Bootstrap 2 → Bootstrap 5. The template's bundled Bootstrap 2 CSS and JavaScript are gone; layout is carried by a compatibility layer over Joomla 6's own Bootstrap 5.
    • Font Awesome 4.7 → 6.5.2. The old icon set was loaded from a CDN that no longer exists, so icons could fail to appear at all. Legacy icon names still work.
    • Google Fonts now load through a standard stylesheet link with pre-connect hints and display=swap instead of a JavaScript loader — faster, and no flash of invisible text.
    • Template options: all 60 on/off toggles are now Joomla-native switches matching the rest of the administrator, and tab and field labels were tidied ("Top Handler Height" is now "Header Height", "Top Handler Width" is now "Logo Width").
    • Search box. On phones and tablets it opens as a full-width panel under the header with a proper touch-sized field; on desktop the drop-down is considerably larger.
    • Mobile header: one evenly spaced icon row — secondary menu, account, register, search — with the main-menu hamburger raised to the logo row.
    • Distribution: Trento now ships as a Joomla package, so updates are offered through Joomla's own Update Manager.

    Fixed

    • The home-page slideshow no longer ran on current Joomla. The bundled slideshow script called a jQuery function removed years ago, so the slideshow silently died. Fixed.
    • Parallax backgrounds did nothing. The parallax script failed on modern jQuery. Fixed — parallax works as designed again.
    • Header could paint as a solid white bar, hiding the logo, the menu and the top of the slideshow behind it.
    • Drop-down submenus lost their width and no longer closed properly.
    • Breadcrumbs ran together with no separator between steps.
    • A stray grey "Search" label appeared above the search field.
    • Slideshow caption text sat hard against the left edge on the fixed-width style.
    • Error pages requested three stylesheets that are not part of the template, and the editor icon font pointed at a folder Joomla 6 removed — both produced silent 404s.
    • Demo content tidied: a footer column still labelled with another template's name, an out-of-date copyright year, a footer module whose only content was a missing image, and a missing testimonials background.
    • Front-end JavaScript errors reduced from five to zero on the home page, at desktop, tablet and phone widths.

    Security

    • 173 template option outputs are now escaped before being written into the page.
    • PHP 8 compatibility fix in the login module override.

    Removed

    • Bundled Bootstrap 2, Internet Explorer-only work-arounds, and 19 unused JavaScript plugins — the template's script folder went from 30 files to 11, every one actually used. Smaller download, fewer requests.
    • The legacy Search component and module, which are not compatible with Joomla 6. Trento's search uses Joomla's Smart Search, which is unaffected.

    Quickstart package

    • Ships Joomla 6.1.2, installed and verified end to end before release.
    • Starts clean: article hit counters at zero, no leftover administrator activity log, and no lingering setup-nag messages beyond Joomla's own five onboarding notices.
