Premium Joomla Templates for Joomla 5 and Joomla 6
Vision Energize Themes Templates Changelog
-
October 14, 2026
Version 6.2.0
Joomla 6.2.0. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 6.2.0 (Joomla 6.2.0 release notes), and the template version is now 6.2.0 to match.
Error pages. "Page not found" and "access denied" pages now show inside the template, with its header, menus and footer, and fit a phone screen.
Phones. The sidebar no longer shows an empty "Main Menu" heading (its links are in the phone menu).
Quickstart. A fresh install no longer lists stale update notices.
October 2, 2026Version 6.1.4.1
Quickstart fix. The Quickstart no longer fails to install on MySQL hosts with a "prepared statement protocol" error. Thanks to Iryna for reporting this. The template itself is unchanged apart from its version number.
Quickstart. Removed leftover files from the quickstart's top folder.
September 30, 2026Version 6.1.4
Joomla 6.1.4. The Quickstart now installs Joomla 6.1.4, a security and bug-fix release (Joomla 6.1.4 release notes), and the template version is now 6.1.4 to match. There are no visual changes. Installing the template update does not update Joomla itself; update Joomla from System → Update → Joomla.
September 30, 2026Version 6.1.3.6
Fix. After the previous security update, print and email views, popup windows and the VirtueMart checkout step (pages served with
tmpl=component) could return an error page. The template'scomponent.phpnow defines the escaping helper it uses. There are no visual changes. Please update if you installed the previous version.September 28, 2026Version 6.1.3.5
Security update. Module, menu and tab titles are now escaped wherever the template writes them into your pages (module headings, title attributes and the mega menu), so a title containing a quote or markup can no longer break out of its place in the page. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.
September 28, 2026Version 6.1.3.4
Security update. Every template setting that is written into your pages is now escaped for the place it lands in (HTML, attributes, CSS and JavaScript), so a setting value can no longer break out of its context. The error page now escapes its message and title too. There are no visual changes. Recommended for all sites.
September 10, 2026Version 6.1.3.3
Fixed a problem where a large logo could fill the whole screen on phones. The stylesheet that keeps this template working with current Joomla was letting the header logo draw at its own full size on small screens instead of scaling it down to fit the space, so a logo wider than the phone screen — common, since logos are usually exported at 1500 pixels or more to stay sharp — pushed the header out and showed visitors a giant close-up of one or two letters instead of the site. Logos now scale down to fit on every screen size, and a logo already small enough to fit is displayed exactly as before. Update the template to pick this up; if you built your site from the Quick Start, a rebuilt one is on your downloads page.
September 3, 2026Version 6.1.3.2
Maintenance release.
- Updated the Bootstrap 2→5 compatibility stylesheet to the current version, bringing this template in line with the rest of the range.
- Fixed: paginated pages returned a 500 error on PHP 8. Any page with pagination — on a shop template that includes the category listing — could fail with a server error instead of displaying. The cause was a leftover test in the pagination override that is invalid on PHP 8; the dead code has been removed.
Both the template package and the Quick Start have been rebuilt for this release. Download the latest from your member area.
August 19, 2026Version 6.1.3.1
Vision 6.1.3.1 is a corrective maintenance release and we recommend updating. The 6.1.3 package released on 18 August was built from a stale copy of the shared Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet and the previous mobile-header script, so a group of fixes that 6.1.3's own notes described as included did not actually reach the package. This release ships them, together with several fixes made after that package was built. Your settings, colours and menu choices carry over, and there is nothing to reconfigure after updating.
If you downloaded 6.1.3
- Please update. The 6.1.3 package carried the shared compatibility stylesheet as it stood on 11 August, not as it stood on release day, and it carried the older mobile-header script. On a phone that means the header chrome, the utility icons and several page bands behave as they did before those fixes were made. Everything listed below is the difference between the two builds.
Fixed — the header
- The words on the top-right account and register controls were half cut off and sat on top of their own icons. Two separate causes, both measured on this template at 1400, 1024 and 768 pixels wide. The label was starting at the same place as the background icon, printing over it; and the strip holding those controls was fixed at 16 pixels tall with anything taller hidden, so the bottom half of every label was cut away. Both are corrected, and the controls have not moved.
- The mobile share panel opened empty. Tapping the social icon opened its panel and showed nothing. The social links were being copied correctly — six of them, three real outbound links — but each one carried a helper class from elsewhere in the template that dragged it 64 pixels above and 45 pixels left of the panel it had just been placed in. Measured at 375 pixels wide: the panel was there, and none of its six icons was inside it. Copied links now leave that positioning behind, and the bullet graphics the template applies to ordinary lists no longer appear beside the icons.
- The utility icons were invisible. The account, search and social buttons were drawing icons that measured 1.00:1 against their own background — not "hard to read", but nothing painted at all — and the register button was white on white for the same reason. Icon and background colour for that button set are now settled in one place, so the template's own button styling can no longer repaint them.
- The hamburger button sits on the same line as the logo instead of being positioned independently and hanging below the branded bar.
- The primary hamburger is the same size as the utility buttons beside it (44 pixels rather than 56), and the utility row is evenly spaced — the buttons had been using two spacing mechanisms at once, giving uneven gaps and clipping the first and last buttons at the screen edges.
- The account, search and cart controls at the top right now share one size, one icon size and one midline instead of five independent ones, and the FAQ / Help / Support links beside them are vertically centred in their bar.
- The social flyout tab pinned to the right edge of the page no longer leaves a dead "Follow Us" bar across the foot of the page on phones. It opens on hover, which a touch screen cannot do, and its links are already available from the social icon in the header.
Fixed — log-in and account pages
- The passkey button on the log-in page no longer paints a large black shape across the form. Joomla 6's WebAuthn plugin draws its passkey icon as an inline graphic with no size of its own, and this template — like every template of its generation — had no rule to size one, so it expanded to fill the button. Measured on sibling templates at up to 276×276 pixels of solid black over the log-in area. Inline icons of that kind are now capped and take the button's own colour.
- The close control on the log-in pop-up is a real button. It had been a seven-pixel character at 1.88:1 contrast, marked up as a link with no destination — too small to hit, and unreachable from the keyboard. It is now a proper button at a usable size with an accessible label, and the footer Close control is a button too.
- Account and registration fields fill the width of a phone screen. They had been sized for a desktop two-column layout that no longer applies once the form stacks, leaving several fields about a third of the screen wide with empty space beside them. Field heights were also raised to a comfortable touch size.
Fixed — page layout
- The page no longer scrolls sideways at tablet widths. Measured on this template: 1074 pixels of document in a 1024-pixel window, and 998 pixels in a 768-pixel window. The desktop drop-down panels are parked out of sight vertically but were never parked horizontally, so panels nobody could see were still widening the document. This template was the worst affected because its drop-down width setting defaults higher than the rest of the range. Both widths now measure zero overflow, and the menus themselves are unchanged.
- Article details no longer run off the side of the page. The "Written by / Category / Published / Last Updated / Hits" block was set to a single non-wrapping line, so on a phone its items simply ran past the edge of the screen — measured on a sibling template as 73 pixels outside the viewport, and the sole cause of that page's sideways scrolling. It now wraps.
- The breadcrumb bar no longer overflows on interior and account pages: a layout row was resolving to zero width, leaving the breadcrumb links with nothing to wrap inside.
- Empty header bands no longer paint as blocks of colour with nothing in them, where the template reserved phone-layout space for elements the mobile header now presents as icons.
- Breadcrumbs flow as a single line on a phone instead of taking one line per crumb.
- Header search fields keep their full height again. Bootstrap 5 measures boxes differently from Bootstrap 2, so fields sized in the older style lost their padding out of their declared height and collapsed, taking the row and its submit button with them. A search field with a fixed width no longer overhangs its column between 768 and 1199 pixels.
- Slideshow arrows remain visible on touch screens instead of only appearing on hover, and are drawn at a comfortable tap size.
Changed
- The Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet is now the current shared build (internally 2026-08-19.74, up from 2026-08-11.38). Twenty-nine further fix groups have been added to it since the previous package.
- The compatibility stylesheet is now loaded after every other template stylesheet. It had been emitted earlier in the page, so any of its fixes that were not forced simply lost to the template's own styling. This is why a number of fixes that were present in the file were not visible on the page.
- This template now uses the shared mobile-header script. It previously carried its own copy, which meant it did not inherit fixes made for the rest of the range.
- Two declarations were removed from this template's own
vision-fixups.css. They were forcing a white background and dark ink onto the utility buttons, which is what left the register button blank; button colour is now settled in the shared stylesheet. The geometry, border and cursor rules in that file, which are genuinely specific to this template, are unchanged.
August 18, 2026Version 6.1.3
Vision 6.1.3 is a maintenance release. It renumbers the template to match the Joomla version it is built and tested against, refreshes the Quick Start onto the current Joomla release, and brings the Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet up to the current shared build. There are no changes you need to make after updating — your settings, colours and menu choices carry over.
Version numbering
- The template version now matches the Joomla version it ships against. Vision 6.1.3 is the build for Joomla 6.1.3. The previous release of this template was numbered 6.1.2.5. This is a numbering change only — Joomla still treats 6.1.3 as newer than 6.1.2.5, so the update comparison in your Extensions Manager behaves normally, and nothing about how you install or update the template changes. We are applying the same convention across the whole template range so that the number on the download tells you at a glance which Joomla release it was tested against.
Quick Start
- The Quick Start package now installs Joomla 6.1.3. The previous Quick Start bundled Joomla 6.1.2. If you are building a new site from the Quick Start you now get the current Joomla release straight away, instead of installing and then immediately having to run a core update.
- The Quick Start is a standard Joomla installation package — upload it, extract it, and run the normal Joomla installer in your browser. Akeeba Kickstart is not needed.
Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet
- Brought up to the current shared build, adding twenty-five further layout guards since 6.1.2.5. These were found and fixed on other templates in our range during August, and are included here as a preventative update so that Vision is protected against the same classes of problem rather than waiting for one of them to surface on your site. The areas covered are: drop-down menu behaviour and flow; mobile header layout, ordering and spacing; slideshow controls on touch screens, which are revealed on hover and so were unreachable by tap; social icon rendering where a template's own image sprite competed with the Font Awesome 6 glyphs that replaced it; tooltips and popovers becoming visible on the page before they were triggered; page bands that pin themselves to a fixed desktop width and so scroll sideways on a phone; grid children that lost their block display; and full-height column panels that clipped the content they were meant to wrap.
What is not in this release
- No template file other than the Bootstrap compatibility stylesheet changed between 6.1.2.5 and 6.1.3. Everything shipped in the 6.1.2.x line — the Joomla 6 native rebuild, the removal of the JavaScript error that fired on every page load, the compatibility layer for the three jQuery methods the slideshow controls and parallax bands depend on, the log-in dialog that now always opens fully visible, the mobile sideways-scroll and drawer sizing fixes, and the drop-down menus that no longer draw themselves open before you hover them — is carried forward unchanged in this package.
- Known limitation, unchanged and disclosed: the template still loads jQuery and a number of carried-forward jQuery plug-ins. These are dependencies the template genuinely uses, not dead code, and removing them is a larger piece of work than a maintenance release should carry.
With thanks to Michael Mullan, whose Expression bug report led to the maintenance pass across our templates that several of these compatibility-stylesheet guards came out of.
August 10, 2026Version 6.1.2.5
- Drop-down menus no longer appear open before you hover them. On some templates every sub-menu was drawn on the page from the moment it loaded. They are hidden again until you move the mouse over the menu.
- Drop-downs sit directly beneath the menu they open from. They previously appeared a short distance below, and moving the mouse across that space closed the menu before you arrived. Sub-menus that open to the side are likewise flush against the column they come from.
August 10, 2026Version 6.1.2.4
- Drop-down menus now sit directly beneath the menu they open from. They previously appeared a short distance below, and moving the mouse across that space closed the menu before you arrived. Sub-menus that open to the side are likewise flush against the column they come from.
August 10, 2026Version 6.1.2.3
Maintenance release. This update is recommended for all users — it removes JavaScript errors that could stop other features on the page from working, and improves the template's behaviour on phones.
- Fixed a JavaScript error that occurred on every page, caused by a legacy mobile-touch library that cannot load under the version of jQuery Joomla 6 ships. The built-in slideshow is unaffected and continues to advance normally.
- Removed leftover calls to jQuery plugins that are no longer bundled. A call to a missing plugin stops every remaining script in the same block from running, so this can affect features that look unrelated.
- Added a small compatibility layer for three jQuery methods that were removed before the version Joomla 6 ships, so slideshow controls and parallax backgrounds keep working.
- Updated the Bootstrap 2 to Bootstrap 5 compatibility stylesheet to the current build.
- The log-in dialog now always opens fully visible. Previously it could open with the page dimmed behind it but the dialog itself invisible.
- Pages no longer scroll sideways on a phone, and the mobile menu, search and social panels are now sized to the screen rather than to the full page width.
August 7, 2026Version 6.1.2.2
Maintenance release — layout and icon corrections shared across our template range. Several fixes were developed while working on our other templates over the past week. This release brings Vision up to the same level. Nothing in the design changes and your settings are untouched.
Fixed
- Pages could scroll sideways slightly on a phone. Rows carried over from the older layout system were given spacing the original design never had, which pushed content a little wider than the screen and produced a small horizontal drag.
- Uneven left and right margins on some pages. Full-width bands relied on a behaviour the newer layout framework changed, so content could sit closer to one edge than the other — most visible on interior pages rather than the home page.
- Some small icons could be painted over by an old graphic. The original design pack drew its icons by cropping one large picture file, and a copy of that instruction survived in the stylesheet, laying the old blurry image on top of the modern icon underneath.
- Multi-column module rows did not always collapse cleanly to full width on phones, leaving columns narrow and crowded instead of stacking.
- Drop-down menu items could be cut off on phones where a sub-menu ran past the edge of the screen.
- The fixed header could be painted underneath the slideshow on some screen sizes, making it appear to vanish.
Note
- These are corrections rather than changes — if your site looks right today, it will still look right after updating, with the rough edges above smoothed out. Ships in both the template package and the quickstart.
August 6, 2026Version 6.1.2.1
Maintenance release — one visible correction. This updates the show/hide button on password fields, which appears on the login, registration and password-reset forms. No other part of Vision changes, and your settings are untouched.
Fixed
- The password show/hide button showed an eye looking off to one side. An earlier release corrected this control from an empty square to an eye, but the icon set we draw from has no version of that symbol with a centred pupil — so it was perfectly usable, yet visibly lopsided against the neat alignment of the form around it. It is now a purpose-drawn eye with the pupil dead centre, and being drawn rather than taken from a font it stays sharp at any size and on any screen.
Note
- Updating is optional if the off-centre eye does not bother you — nothing else in this release affects how your site works. It ships in both the template package and the quickstart.
August 6, 2026Version 6.1.2
Major release — Vision is now genuinely Joomla 6 native. This is by far the largest update Vision has ever had. The template has been rebuilt from Bootstrap 2 onto Bootstrap 5, every Joomla 3-era programming call has been replaced with its modern Joomla 6 equivalent, the content area has been widened for today's screens, the phone experience has been built from scratch, and a long list of faults — several of which had been quietly broken for years — has been fixed. The quickstart ships Joomla 6.1.2. Everything below ships in both the standalone package and the quickstart, and your existing settings are preserved.
With thanks to Michael Mullan, whose Expression bug report led to a maintenance pass across our templates — several of its fixes are included here.
Added
- Joomla 6 native foundation. Vision no longer depends on Joomla's Behaviour — Backward Compatibility plugin, so it keeps working when that plugin is switched off — which is Joomla 6's own default. This matters more than it sounds: a template that still relies on that plugin blocks the upgrade rather than merely misbehaving afterwards. Forty-three obsolete Joomla 3-era calls were rewritten to reach this point.
- A much wider content area. On large screens the page now uses up to 1440 pixels instead of the 940 it was locked to, so content, images and module rows have room to breathe on a modern monitor. Tablet and phone widths are unchanged.
- A real mobile menu. Vision previously had no mobile menu at all. The main menu now opens from a large, easy-to-tap button at the top of the header and shows your actual menu structure as an accordion — sections with sub-pages expand and collapse, and opening one section closes the others.
- A utility row on phones — one evenly spaced row of controls sitting under the logo, holding the second-menu button, social links, account, register and search, every target a proper 44×44 pixel touch size.
- A second menu button on phones. Sites that use Vision's second menu now get their own button in that row, opening it as its own full-width panel.
- A working search on phones. Tapping the magnifier opens a full-width panel anchored beneath the header, with a large field and a visible Search button. Previously the phone search field had no submit control at all — the only way to run a search was to press Enter or Go on the on-screen keyboard, with nothing visible to say so.
- A Favicon tab with a built-in crop tool. Pick any image and the template builds the complete set of icons every device needs — a real
favicon.ico(16, 32 and 48 pixel) published at your site root, plus 32, 192 and 512 pixel versions and a 180 pixel Apple touch icon. If your image isn't square, the crop tool lets you choose exactly which square part becomes the icon. Leave the field empty and the template's own default favicon is used. - A modern colour picker. All 41 colour settings now use a picker with a live preview and brand swatches. Values stay as ordinary hex codes, so anything you had set before still works.
- Dark mode support in the administrator. Vision's own settings screen now follows the Joomla administrator's dark theme instead of rendering grey text on a dark background.
- Modern social networks — Instagram, Threads, Bluesky, Mastodon, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest and Discord added, alongside X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Vimeo and RSS. Thirteen networks are now available where there were nine.
- Font Awesome 6.5.2 with version-4 compatibility shims.
- Package-based distribution — Vision now installs as a package and registers with Joomla's own Update Manager.
Changed
- Rebuilt on Bootstrap 5 (previously Bootstrap 2), with a compatibility layer that preserves the original Vision design while the underlying framework is fully modern. The whole 940-pixel grid was rebuilt in the process.
- Social icons are now scalable glyphs rather than a fixed image. The old icons were slices of a single picture file, which is why they looked soft on high-resolution screens and why no new network could ever be added. They are now font glyphs — crisp at any size, and they take your theme colours.
- Twitter is now X, with the current logo. Your existing Twitter link and its on/off setting carry over untouched.
- Every on/off switch in the template settings now uses Joomla's native switch control, so the settings screen matches the rest of Joomla 6. All 32 of the old checkbox-style switches are gone.
- The settings tabs have been tidied — the repeated "Settings" suffix has been dropped, so the tabs now read Basic, Site Name And Slogan, Drop Down Menu, Built-in Slideshow and Theme.
- Google Fonts now load through a direct stylesheet link with preconnect and
display=swap, replacing the old JavaScript font loader — text appears sooner. - The site search now uses Joomla's Smart Search. Menu links pointing at the old search component were repointed and keep their original labels, so your navigation is unchanged.
- The login form now works with password managers. Its username and password fields previously carried no autocomplete information, so browsers and password managers could not reliably offer to fill or save credentials.
Fixed
- All 41 colour settings appeared as plain text boxes. The colour-picker library the template shipped with stopped running on modern Joomla, so instead of a picker you were faced with 41 blank fields expecting a hex code typed by hand. Every one of them is now a proper picker again.
- Saving the template settings could silently switch features off — including the slideshow. Fifteen settings were stored in an old format the modern switch control does not recognise, so the first save after an update would quietly write them back as "off". The stored values have been migrated, so what is on stays on.
- The password show/hide button was an empty square on both login and registration. Joomla emits its own icon vocabulary, which a third-party template does not map onto Font Awesome. Vision now ships that map.
- The Previous / Next / First / Last pagination buttons could render blank on category lists, for the same reason. All four now display correctly.
- Icons that Joomla itself places on a page did not appear at all — they came out as nothing or as empty boxes. Around thirty of Joomla's own icons are now mapped and render properly.
- A collapsible module style caused a blank white page. One of the template's module style files contained a PHP syntax error, so any module you assigned that style to took the page down with it. No demo used it, which is exactly why it went unnoticed — the exposure was to customers who chose it themselves.
- A featured-article layout could clip a tall article down to just its title.
- Colour and style changes could take up to a month to appear for visitors. The template's stylesheets carried no version marker, so a content delivery network kept serving an old copy long after the change was made. All twelve now update immediately.
- JavaScript errors in the browser console are down from five to one, and the one that remains is documented under Known limitations below.
- The template version shown in the Joomla administrator was years out of date and is now correct.
- Template overrides were reviewed and marked as checked, so Joomla stops flagging them after core updates.
Removed
- Joomla's long-removed Search component and module, left over from an old migration. These were removed from Joomla itself in version 4 and would stop the site loading on Joomla 6.
- The Superfish and Supersubs menu scripts are no longer loaded, along with a compatibility shim for a jQuery feature that was withdrawn in 2013. The drop-down menus are now handled by the template's own stylesheet and code.
- A broken tooltip script is no longer loaded. It was written for MooTools, which Joomla dropped years ago, so it had not produced a tooltip in a very long time — it only produced errors. Links keep their titles, so browsers still show their own tooltips.
- Internet Explorer conditional blocks and the related compatibility scripts.
- The obsolete legacy on/off switch controls in the template settings.
- The old JavaScript web-font loader.
Security
- Output escaping applied throughout the template — 109 places where a template setting is printed into the page are now escaped.
- Direct-access guards confirmed on every template entry point.
- PHP 8 compatibility work throughout.
Known limitations
- The slideshow still uses the camera.js library, and the template still loads jQuery along with a small number of older jQuery plug-ins that camera.js depends on. One of those plug-ins produces a single console message on page load; we measured that removing it silences the message but also stops the slideshow advancing on its own, so it has deliberately been kept. Migrating the slideshow to a modern replacement is scheduled for a later release.
- The two collapsible module styles still use MooTools-era code, so they do not collapse. They have not worked since Joomla 3 and are queued for a rewrite; ordinary module styles are unaffected.
